For Hasmin
She has such a great personality
She fills me with joy by talking to me.
And though I've known her for only a while
Her attitude towards me makes me smile.
She easily captivated my heart
It feels as though I've known her from the start
All the time I spent with her was well-spent
Time flies quickly; I don't know where it went.
She's seen me at probably the worst time
But she solaced me till I felt sublime.
She has been to me, an excellent friend
How I deserve this, I can't comprehend.
Her kindness and goodness are my delight:
She is my refuge in my times of plight.
In her presence, I feel safe and secure;
I'll ensure that our friendship will endure.
It's a shame, really, that others mock her;
It pains me that she's been called names and slurs.
This lady is a gem and a rare find -
She may not know, but she's one of a kind.
With that, I hope she finds a safe space
And I hope, with me, she won't feel displaced.
I'll do my best to reciprocate, too
Because she is a great friend through and through.
