Strawberries

Ambrosia's Pov

"Children, it's strawberry time!" my mother called with an excited tone to her voice

I could hear a two year old Arien
Laughing in her arms

Us girls immediately jumped up
From our chairs and ran down the Manors stairs

"No running girls" I heard dada call from beside mother "there are enough strawberries for all of us"

Just as he said that, I toppled down the last few step but luckily
Dada caught me before I fell

"Come on before it gets dark,then we won't get to pick them"Xeleste
Whined pulling trying to pull mother's arm

"She's right Asmodius we are rather late" mother said eyeing dad

we have this tradition,you see our strawberries only bloom the sunset before the a full moon

so we usually go to pick them and then after we had picked the right amount and the moon started to rise Xeleste and Mother would go back inside and get dressed in long loose white
dresses and do a short dance before dada read us a story under the stars

No one loved this more than me
Especially the dance, maybe it's the way the moon makes mother and Xeleste look like angels

Or maybe it's the way they sang and danced as the dress flowed behind them, either way I completely loved it

"C'mon strawberry"my dad said heaving me up and dragging a giggling me out the door

Mother settled under a mahogany tree,dada taking a seat beside her

I laughed in pure joy as I raced Kamari to see who could get the most strawberries

Xeleste was twirling and humming majestically while picking strawberries as the sun was setting

It was pure joy everyone was together we were all happy no
one was worrying about a supposed war coming, we were all happy

Suddenly I tripped over something, I got up slowly dusting my self off while cursing but immediately stopped when I
turned around and saw what I tripped over

I picked up the light brown kitten from behind me
"Aren't you a pretty one" I cooed at him, my heart melted when he yawned

"I'm naming you honey"I said smiling at it's cuteness

I turned around to tell mother and dada but stoped when i saw the angry look on dada's face while mother had a firm look planted on hers

the setting sun's light showing me the water welling up in her eyes

I didn't hear any of the conversation but Kamari seemed to hear as she was closest to them
a blank expression set her rosey porcelain cheeks

dada got up abruptly and walked back towards the house Kamari following

Xeleste sensing tension went towards mother , both Xeleste and mother shared a look as Xeleste walked away

"Come on Ambrosia,mother needs her space"Xeleste said softly while pulling my free arm signaling me to come with her

What was going on I wondered as I stopped picking strawberries
