Chapter 9: Unknown Blood

"Hey, Shido. The new transfer student has been confirmed as a spirit. You should work your magic and make her fall in love with you before the AST attacks" Kotori responded over the earpiece in Shido's ear as he sat at his table, tapping his arms.

"Hey, Shido. Are you ready to show me a good time?" Kurumi said as she happily walked to his side, and he stood up.

"Yeah," he nodded as he turned to Origami and Tohka, "Sorry, but I will be back soon" He waved them off as he left with Kurumi and walked down the corridor.

Walking down the hallway, passing some students, Kurumi started the conversation, "So, where should our romantic getaway go first?" Meanwhile, Shido, who was waiting for Kotori to give an answer, decided to take the lead.

"Well, let's start with the cafeteria and student stalls, then make our way upstairs to the rooftop, which is a spot that I recommend for when there's a sunset" Shido suggested. Kurumi nodded with a smile as they made their way to the cafeteria.

"Nice choice, bro. I never knew you had any romantic ideas in that head of yours" Kotori jestingly remarked, which Shido didn't mind. It was pretty common knowledge thanks to all the romantic videos he had been forced to watch during his training.

Meanwhile, Tohka and Origami were stalking them, though Shido, despite feeling their stares on him and Kurumi's back, ignored it and continued with the tour through the school. Shido started to explain the recommended dishes in the cafeteria as well as food that she might want to avoid if she disliked spices.

He could feel Kurumi's eyes on him, never leaving. He turned to her, and their faces were inches apart. Time seemed to slow down as the sun's rays warmed up the cafeteria, and the soft chatter of students nearby enhanced the quality of the moment.

"Sorry, it's hard to concentrate when a handsome man is right in front of me" she spoke softly with a kind tone. Shido's heart skipped a beat before his heart rate calmed down almost instantaneously.

complimented Shido, who felt like the mood was ruined. "First time the system did that for me" Shido replied. So, they continued the tour and made their way upstairs.

"Haaaah... Kurumi, what kind of panties are you wearing? How did that pervy choice get in there?" Kotori's voice came through the earpiece, though Shido did not ask that. He preferred not to be labeled as some pervert for wanting to know a girl's underwear, so he switched to a less personal question. "Kurumi, if I may ask... What brought you to Raizen High?" Both of them continued up the stairs to the rooftop.

"Hm? Oh, you could say that something about the school is just so interesting that I just couldn't help myself and had to see it" she explained without exposing what it was that she was so interested in.

In the end, after the tour, Kurumi and Shido, with Tohka observing them continuously, said their goodbyes. "Thank you so much for showing me around the school today. I would have been lost without you. Alrighty then... I guess I'll see you all in class tomorrow." Kurumi skipped away as Shido continued to watch her leave. He then turned his head to the left, and he and Tohka caught each other's gaze. She realized she had been caught in 4K.
