STATUE

"A-X-O-L-O-T-L! My time has come to burn! I invoke the ancient power that I may return!"

As you strolled through the lush forest, your eyes caught sight of a peculiar statue. Its triangular shape and dapper appearance were unlike anything you had ever seen before in this natural wonderland. It was a rare find, because how many fancy triangles do you come across in the forest? However, as they say, there's always a first time for everything.

While you bend down to examine the mossy stone, your curiosity is piqued by the peculiar pattern etched into its surface. Your mind races with questions, wondering who could have crafted such an enigmatic piece of work then just leave it in the middle of nowhere.

"Don't touch the weird thing in the woods."

You can't resist the urge to trace the statue's eye with your finger, but as you stand up straight, hand on your hip, you start to feel a creeping sense of unease.

It dawns on you that maybe you should have listened to yourself, since it's not the best idea to touch something that looks like it could be straight out of an Illuminati conspiracy theory. But still, you can't help but admire the intricate details and mysterious aura of the statue.

Despite knowing better, you couldn't help but whip out your trusty phone and snap a selfie with the triangle. Flashing a peace sign and smile, you struck a pose proudly.

You look over the photo with a smug look then posted the pic on your Snapchat story. And what did you caption it? The first stupidest thing to come to mind: "Abraham Lincoln lookin' a bit different." You just couldn't help but share the moment with your friends back in your hometown.

They did tell me to keep them updated.

While you were smiling down at your phone, watching as your friends respond to your story, an uneasy feeling comes across you as if you were being watched. you quickly stashed your phone away and scanned your surroundings, but there was no one in sight. The mystery of who or what was watching you lingered in the air, leaving you on edge and curious.

Hey, you, shake my hand!

Huh. Did someone say something?

Imagine this—you've been waiting for two whole years for your new home to be built, and finally, it's done and you move in after graduating college—you wake up and can't wait to explore the woods behind your house and see what secrets they hold. But no, now you hear a voice in your head calling out to you, urging you to shake the hand of a mysterious statue that isn't even a 70 second walk to get to from your new home. Will you stupidly follow your curiosity and see where this strange voice leads you?

There is a simple answer to that. Absolutely not.

As soon as you set foot in your new furnished abode this morning, you couldn't help but hear them — the whispers that beckoned you to venture into the woods. At first, you brushed it off as your own sense of adventure kicking in, but now you're starting to wonder if there's more to it than that. Could it be that there's something mysterious and alluring lurking in those trees, just waiting for you to discover it?

Was the statue the mystery?

The voices in your head won't stop pestering you to shake its stony hand. It has an obnoxious voice, one that seems to be growing more and more agitated by the second. You can't help but wonder if you're losing your mind.

As you stand there, perplexed and scratching your head, your gaze fixated on the piercing cat eye of the triangle.

A sudden thought crosses your mind, "Could it be my intrusive thoughts playing tricks on me again?" You muttered. "I've learned the hard way to never give in to them." With a sense of relief, you turn your back on the statue, content with the decision to not shake its hand.
