You're 19 and live in Hawkins, Indiana. You used to live in a cottage in the woods that looked like it was torn right out of Snow White itself, with your father, Jim Hopper. Once your adopted sister, El came along, your dad upscaled into a 3 bedroom house in town - very suburban and definitely not like a fairytale. But once you leave for college your father and sister are moving in with the Byers, location yet unknown, as he's now been dating Joyce Byers for a few years now. When you were younger, your sister Sara became terminally ill and eventually passed away which created a terrible rift between your parents. Your dad didn't handle Sara's death well and started to drink more which your mom couldn't stand so she eventually skipped out on you both and left you with your dad and you haven't seen her since. Joyce became a surrogate mom and this bond got stronger when she and your dad started seeing each other, a relationship born from the tragedy of Wills temporary disappearance, it helped your dad heal and gave you the worlds most extraordinary sister in El.
It's been a pretty obedient and sheltered life as police chief Hoppers daughter, but after all the shit you'd been through the Demogorgans and portals you'd reached the point of rebellion; partying, smoking and weed became the new favourites in your life, all at the side of your loyal best friend Eddie Munson. You and Eddie had been friends since kindergarten but with everything Eddie's dad did, Hopper grew a distaste toward him as he got older - certain he'd turn out just like his criminal father. Together, you and Eddie were thick as thieves and always getting it into trouble together almost to the point of your own father dragging your asses to the station in his own car but he always refrained as he didn't wanna arrest or criminalise his kid. You and Eddie were inseparable from the moment you'd met, spending every minute together whether you were at school or not - nothing was gonna separate you... or so you thought.
It was only the first night of summer vacation and you were spending another night partying at the lavish home of someone you didn't even know when you spotted the most beautiful guy across the room... Billy Hargrove. You knew of him from your friends but never in a million years expected him to even know your name let alone talk to you - but he did. "Hey gorgeous, what're you doing all alone in a place like this?" his voice was like a smooth cup of coffee, his eyes magnetic and his blonde mullet of curls framed his face perfectly.
"Little old me? Just trying to get my buzz on but nobodies yet to get me a fresh drink..." you bat your long eyelashes at him, he clearly can't resist the charm and neither can you.
"Well I wouldn't be a gentleman if I didn't pour the most beautiful girl in the room a brewski, now would I?" He winked his sparkling eyes and you felt every ounce of your already questionable resolve crumble. "Fuck he's gorgeous!" You thought as you watched him fill your cup with red liquid from the lunch bowl nearby. You and Billy become glued together throughout the party; dancing, drinking and talking to the point where you have no idea where your friends have gotten to and quite frankly, you didn't really care. As the room becomes overcrowded with increasingly drunken teenagers you and Billy decide to head upstairs to find somewhere a little quieter to 'talk', deciding on one of the many vacant bedrooms. You've been with a couple of guys before but it's always been tender and caring, no electricity or fire but Billy gave you exactly what you wanted. Billy wasn't afraid to treat you rough and you loved every second of it, every bite of your neck or shoulder was met with your nails dragging down his back as you cried his name. The connection of your dampened flesh was intoxicating, like your bodies were made only for each other. The boys you'd slept with before always cooed lovingly into your ear but Billy praised you, made you feel like the most amazing person in the world, the most special - hearing him call you "Good Girl" was almost enough to get you off on its own. By the end of your encounter you didn't want to let him go and he felt the same about you.
It was a whirlwind romance that left you in a spin every single day you were with him - and you were with him every single day. Billy was chivalrous and kind, he'd always pick you up and drop you home and he was very well mannered to your dad as well as everyone else in town. As the summer weeks passed you found yourself drifting from your friends, you'd seen them in passing at the poolside while you gawked at Billy as he worked or at parties you'd attend as Billy's arm candy, but you'd rarely exchange words - even with Eddie. Eddie was always polite and forgiving whenever you'd cancel movie nights or your weekly exchange of records over pizza, but he was hurting, feeling like he was losing his best friend. Unfortunately for you, you were just too wrapped up in your adrenaline and rebellion fuelled romance to notice anything else happening around you. By the end of the summer the Walkie Eddie gave you was just collecting dust on your dresser, your friends had almost forgotten your face and you were so obsessed with what Billy offered you that you found it all too easy to look past his negatives.
Despite his chivalrous and well-mannered exterior he presented to onlookers, Billy was possessive and jealous - if he caught you even looking at someone else, friends included, he'd become aggressive and mean. By the end of August, any parties you attended were with Billy and Billy only, sure his friends were there but only he could talk to them, your job was just to fawn over him and refill his drinks. He'd grab you and pull you around whenever he felt like it, the aggression he showed you in the bedroom began to seep through into your lives outside and in public. He paw at you and slide his hands up your shirts, skirts and dresses, especially if his friends were around to witness - it gave him a warped sense of dominance over you whilst reminding his friends what he had and they didn't. Although, it didn't stop his crude jokes about his friends "borrowing" you sometime, it never happened of course, but you could never be sure if he was being serious or not. He'd started to get blackout drunk at parties, forcing you to drive him home or fork out for cabs, on a number of occasions you'd have to make your own way home because either he wasn't ready or he'd disappeared upstairs with a never ending mixture of other girls.
It's now the night before school starts up again, Billy's dragged you to an "end of summer" party at the home of somebody neither of you know - made even more awkward since all your friends are there and Billy isn't going back to school as he actually managed to graduate last year. As always, Billy got blackout drunk and insisted on staying at the party and even wanted to head to some after party he'd caught wind about while you just wanted to get some sleep before school. Following another argument as Billy refuses to leave with you, you walk out of the party and pay for a cab home by yourself with the last of your summer allowance. Sneaking in and heading upstairs before your dad or El hear you creep in, you don't want to talk to anyone, you just want to be alone as you mentally prepare for what will likely be an isolating year at school. You'd normally be excited to be seeing your friends, but you know how jealous Billy with get if he ever hears you've even looked at them, let alone spoken to them and unfortunately, despite his graduating last year - Billy still has eyes and ears all over Hawkins.
God only knows what will happen at school tomorrow. But for now you'll spend the night tossing and turning as you dream of every possible scenario - not one of them ending in a remotely positive way. After hours of broken sleep, you finally drop off but it's suddenly interrupted by the screeching of your alarm clock, alerting you like a warning signal for the impending day ahead.
"Here we go..."
