Over a thousand years ago there was a family, a happy family that had migrated from Norway to the new world that would one day become America.
This family did not have much but they did have each other and they were a truly happy family until the day the youngest of their clan Henrik was killed, that's when everything changed.

The night after Henrik was killed Esther Mikealson, the mother of this clan and a very powerful witch chose to do a spell that would change her family into beings who were faster, stronger, and better than the creatures that killed her youngest child.
After the spell was completed Mikeal, a Viking warrior and father of this clan killed his children and himself to complete the spell.
When the children awoke they were no longer human, but a new species that would come to be known as Vampires.
They were stronger and faster than the beast they had grew to fear in their village, but immortality has a prices and for this family it was their thirst for blood and when they looked at the villagers around them all these children saw were walking talking gallons of blood.
Due to this unquenchable thirst the children ripped people apart killing them with East as they feasted on the blood of people who were once's friends and people who they cherished, but two brothers had a different reaction to killing people it wasn't that of sorrow or grief, but of bone shattering pain.
As the brothers laid on the ground screaming in pain as their bones broke and reformed themselves a secret that Esther had kept hidden since her first child was born had come to light.
