His breathe caught in his throat when he saw her in person for the first time in twelve years.
She was so gorgeous and radiant, yet people would just walk by her like she was just another human like them.
But, she was more like a goddess.
His heart pounding in his chest as he watch her, he was so happy to see his precious girl but he knew she would be shocked at his sudden arrival.
Maybe he shouldve called before he came here. He didn't care, he got one glimpse of her and he needed more now.
He walked up to her and she looked up from her phone.

"Silly girl, you should be looking where you're going." He said light heartedly as she looked up in shock. He couldn't help but smile seeing her perfect blue eyes once again, after so many years.

"Uncle Robert?" She whispered in disbelief, he just wanted to wrap her up in his arms and let her know she was safe now.
But, it had been so long and he knew she would be afraid and confused.

"I know, I should've called or tried to get in contact before seeing you. But, I couldn't help myself. As soon as I got out I needed to see you. You've grown so much, little one." He said in admiration as she continued to look at him in shock.
She thought she'd buried these memories of the past a long time ago.
But now, every reminder of her past of standing in front of her.

"I thought you went to prison." She whispered wrapping her black coat further around herself, showing vulnerablity.

"I did, love. I served twelve years, but I'm back now. I knew I had to see you, I promise I'm not going to hurt you. I would never hurt you, Ophelia." He said, he was about to reach forward and brush a piece of hair our of her face but he quickly stopped himself, he needed to take this slow.
He could see her broken mind was racing with thoughts.

"Why don't we just go sit somewhere and have a coffee? Do you have anywhere you need to be?" He asked in a soft voice.
She looked up into his familiar brown eyes, her eyes scanned over him, seeing that a lot had changed.
It wasn't a surprise that he had a lot more muscle, she knew what prison did to a man, his brown hair and beard had also grown out a lot more.
To be fair, she had changed a lot more as well, when he went to prison she was only ten years old.
Now, she was a grown woman, long brown hair similar to her uncles, her skin was still as fair as ever but her eyes looked even more tired now.

"No, I don't have anywhere to be. Why don't we go to my apartment? I think we both have a lot of questions and it's probably best to talk in private." Ophelia suggested as Robert smiled kindly and nodded.

"That sounds like a wonderful idea, love. Lead the way." Robert replied before she began to walk and he followed closely behind.
He couldn't help but to be on edge, he hadn't been in the outside world for over a decade, it had certainly changed.
They walked in silence down the streets, each completely consumed by their own thoughts.
Once they arrived at the appartment complex, he noticed there wasn't any security and it looked like to be a rough part of town.

"Do you have any trouble around these parts? It looks...rough." He muttered looking at the place in disgust.
He followed her inside and followed her up the stairs.

"I work as a freelance writer, it doesn't exactly pay well." She muttered, sighing a little.
After five flights of stairs they finally reached her small studio apartment.
She opened it and allowed him inside, he looked around.

"Have you even been taking care of yourself, love?" He asked making her scoff.

"It doesn't really concern you either way." Ophelia retorted causing her uncle to look at her in shock.

"I suppose you're not the sweet little girl I used to know anymore, huh?" He replied as she sighed and looked at him.

"A lot has changed, Uncle. I was a kid when you left, a kid that was been beaten and abused by her own father. Everything changed that day, for the both of us. I realised that I had to take care of myself from there on out." She replied, as she sat at the small dining table.

"Where did you go after it?" He asked before sitting across from her, he could see so much pain in her eyes.
He could take all of that away, he could make her happy again.

"They put me into foster care, I didn't stay in one place long. People like to say they'll do anything to help a kid, but I was too much to handle. Between the PTSD, breakdowns and night terrors there was no family who could stand taking care of me." She said with obvious remorse in her words.
He stared at the girl with utter sadness and yearning in his heart, he wanted nothing more than to wrap her up in his arms and take care of her broken soul.

"My poor girl, I wish I could have helped more. After what I did... I didn't know what happened to you. I never knew if..." He trailed off as he looked down at the cheap dining table.

"You always wondered if killing your own brother to save me from the abuse was worth it or not." She replied making him chuckle softly, she did always have a knack for knowing what he was thinking.

"I suppose it's not worth questioning things that have already happened. What matters is what's happening now." He replied looking into her beautiful eyes knowing there must've been so much pain behind her face.
