Unexpected Confessions (Neji x Reader)

The bustling city of Konoha had its charms, and one of Y/N's favorite ways to unwind was to catch a movie at the local theater. On this particular day, she found herself babysitting her adorable niece, a bubbly child with a penchant for laughter. Neji Hyuga, Y/N's close friend and secret crush, had offered to join them for a movie.

As they settled into their seats, Y/N held her niece's hand, her heart warmed by the prospect of spending quality time with both her favorite little one and Neji. The lights dimmed, and the movie began.

Midway through the film, just when the tension in the story had reached its peak, Neji's phone rang. He frowned apologetically at Y/N and excused himself to answer the call. "I'll be right back," he whispered as he slipped out of the theater.

Y/N nodded, giving him an understanding smile, but inside, her curiosity piqued. She continued to watch the movie with her niece, who was engrossed in the colorful world on the screen.

Minutes turned into what felt like hours, and Y/N began to wonder what was taking Neji so long. She glanced at her niece, who had an innocent yet mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

Finally, the movie ended, and Y/N decided to head outside to check on Neji. As they emerged into the bright daylight, she spotted him leaning against a nearby wall, his expression pensive.

"Neji, everything alright?" Y/N asked, concerned.

He looked up, his features softening into a smile. "Sorry for making you wait. It was just a work call that I had to take."

Y/N was about to reassure him that it was okay when a lady sitting on a bench nearby chimed in. "You two make such a cute couple, you know."

Y/N blinked in surprise, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Oh, uh, we're not—"

But before she could finish denying it, she noticed Neji's subtle pout, a hint of disappointment in his eyes.

Deciding to address it later, Y/N quickly thanked the lady and headed back towards the car with her niece. As they walked away, she couldn't help but feel flustered by the stranger's comment. What was Neji thinking?

Once they were safely inside the car, Y/N turned to Neji. "Hey, about what that lady said..."

Neji glanced at her, his expression unreadable. "Yes?"

Y/N took a deep breath, her heart pounding. "Do you... um, feel the same way?"

Her niece, ever the curious one, started giggling in the backseat. She put a tiny finger to her lips and whispered, "Shhh!"

Neji's gaze softened, and he looked directly into Y/N's eyes. "Y/N, I've felt this way for a long time."

Y/N's heart soared as she met his confession with a warm smile. Her niece's giggles grew louder, and she couldn't help but chuckle too.

In that moment, as laughter filled the car, Y/N knew that their unexpected confession would mark the beginning of a beautiful journey together.
