Steven wakes up in the morning from the buzzing of his Cookie Cat alarm clock. He begins his morning routine at the kitchen sink, such as brushing his teeth, washing his face, and cleaning his ears. He then dunks his head into the sink full of water to wash his head further. At that moment, Amethyst emerges through the Temple Gate and Pumpkin, barking excitedly, and runs up to her.
"Oooh, hey there, girl!" Amethyst pets, Pumpkin."Yo, Steven! Is this a bad time?"
"Of the three things I have to do in the sink now, this is the one I least mind you seeing." Steven answers
"Ugh, Peridot and TQ are still depressed all up in your B-room?" Amethyst asks
"Yeah. They still haven't gotten over Lapis leaving and taking the Barn with her into space. I think they just... needs a little more time to themselves?"
"Nope! That's it. We're getting them out." Amethyst says
"Wait, Amethyst!"
Steven and Amethyst opens the door to the bathroom, a cold wave of air breezes out of the bathroom, making Amethyst and Steven shiver
"Uhh... Peridot? Turquoise?" Steven asks
Somber country music is heard playing from Peridot's tablet on the sink, while Peridot lies on Turquoise's lap while he lies down in the bathfrom the bathtub with puddles of water everywhere on the floor and ice all over the walls Steven and Amethyst exchange worried looks, and Amethyst walks in.
"You... feeling any better?" Steven asks
"Uugghhh..." Peridot groans while Turquoise remains silent
Amethyst pauses the music on Peridot's tablet.
"So... Uhh, what have you... been up to?"
Peridot mumbles something into Turquoise's chest
Steven walks over. "I uhh... couldn't really hear you there."
Turquoise grabs Peridot's hips and gently lifts Peridot from the bathtub and flips her over to the floor, looking absolutely haggard.
"Nothing..." Peridot says with a depressed groan
"You've been in this bathroom kind of a long time? Maybe you should get some fresh air." Steven suggests
"The air in here is satisfactory," Turquoise says, breathing an icy mist
Peridot in decrepit "... What's the point?"
"...To feel better?" Steven says
"Come on, Peridot! T! I can't stand seeing you like this!"
"Like what?..." Peridot asks
"A metaphorical and literally wreck," Turquoise answers, sitting up from the bath
"Dude, let's just get out of the house. We could go check out my old kindergarten. We met all those other Amethysts up in space, and they all came out of the same rock as me. I've been meaning to get a look at the old neighbourhood now that I've met the neighbours."
"That sounds fun. What do you say, Peridot? Turquoise?" Steven asks as Turquoise gets out of the bath
"If it gets me out of this room, my joints are getting stiff from sitting in that bath and I do miss the sun on my face" Turquoise says his hand on the cracked side of his face slightly digging his fingernails into the lines of the cracks
"You can make us feel dumb by telling us all the stuff we don't know!" Amethyst suggests
"I miss that..." Peridot admits
"Great, it's settled!" Amethyst says
Turquoise kneels and looks Peridot in the eye. "Are you walking, or do you wish for me to carry you?" Turquoise asks, putting his hand on top of Peridot's
"Carrying...Please," Peridot answers slowly and lazily raising her arms, opening and closing her hands, indicating Turquoise to pick her up
Turquoise picks Peridot up holding her close, and she just rests her head on his shoulder and wraps her arms around his neck
"Let's get out of the bathroom." Amethyst says
"Can I bring my music?..." Peridot asks
"No." Amethyst says bluntly
Steven, Amethyst, Turquoise, and Peridot board a train that is passing by the countryside. Steven and Amethyst are gazing out at the scenery, while Peridot is laying in a fetal position on Turquoise's lap while he leans against some cargo inside with his eye closed.
"Ugh. Why exactly are we taking this outdated clackity ship there? The Prime Kindergarten has a very convenient Warp Pad." Peridot groans
"Ehh, we're taking the scenic route."
"Come on, Peridot! Take a look at the beautiful countryside, T?"Steven says
"No. Your efforts to entrance me with Earth's beauty are pointless. My sector of the countryside was perfect. Now it's somewhere in space. Just let me know when we get there."
Steven looks at Peridot with deep concerns while Turquoise breathes in deeply and gently rubs the side of Peridot's face
The four arrive at the kindergarten and begin walking towards Amethyst's hole.
"Good ol' Kindergarten! Just the way I left it! Aww, some things never change. Gah- Actually, everything's different now! Man, I-I used to think this place was full of empty holes, but now it's like, it's empty with holes which were once full! All those Amethysts I met in space, they were all here! While I was right there in the ground. But now, I can finally start putting some faces to holes! Hohohoh, let's see... Hup. " Amethyst proceeds to hop from hole to hole."
"This must've been 8XJ! Ooh! 8XK! 8XL!"
"Actually, the order goes from top to bottom. That's 8XJ." Peridot corrects
"Really?"
"Yes." Peridot answers
"It does make more sense to do it that way," Turquoise adds
"Curly hair, right?" Peridot asks
"Yeah! How'd you know?"
"You can tell from the iron deposits in the formation there." Turquoise explains
"How'd you know that?" Steven asks
"Peridot talks in her sleep and and she likes to talk a lot," Turquoise explains as Peridot blushes and smiles squiggly but comes to a gloomy realization.
"And that's 8XL down below." Peridot says
Amethyst hops down and inspects the hole. "Whoa, that's pretty amazing, Dot."
"thought life was generated in a kindergarten. Formless, aimless energy channelled into new, useful Gems. But life doesn't start in a kindergarten. It ends here. I've gotten used to plants everywhere. Bugs and breeze and sunshine... All of that has been sucked out of this place. It's with the Amethysts that were produced here, and now, this place is nothing but a miserable husk. All of the Amethysts are gone." Peridot glumly says
"Hey!"
"Oh, all the well-made Amethysts are gone." Peridot corrects herself
"Yo, not better." Amethyst says offended
