Interviews With Mcyt Fanfic Writers

Over the weekend, I interviewed a much smaller author, CloudWritesLife.

They write about Hermitcraft, the Life Series, Empires SMP, and DSMP. They have a very popular Ethdubs fic called Dear DoubleO. It's about how Etho is having trouble confessing to Bdubs, so he writes a letter that he never actually sends. Well, that is until Doc, Etho's roommate, finds it. That's all I'm saying here, definitely go check out their story. It's very well written, probably better than my high school AU's, and it's just sweet and wholesome.

So here's my interview with 'em! :D

Question 1: How'd you stumble across mcyt and start writing? The first youtuber I ever really got into was Grian. After I realized that people did storytelling through Minecraft gameplay I was hooked and started watching a lot of other mcyts. Eventually I found my way to the Dream SMP fandom. At that point I didn't even know fanfic was a thing! But then I stumbled across some fanfics for DSMP and shortly after started writing my own with my friend. Been writing fanfic ever since! And to be fair, I always had liked the idea of writing my own stories, fanfic was a good push for that too.

Question 2: Do you ever think of doing something else? Maybe writing original stories or maybe even stepping away from Wattpad and moving on with your life? I've thought about writing a few original stories, but as of now I don't think I am going to. Writing is more of a side hobby for me. I'll probably step away from Wattpad one day but for now I'm just getting started. I've still got a long way to go I think.

Question 3: If you're comfortable with it, would you mind telling me a bit about your home life? Do you enjoy time with your family or is it hard? And do they know about your Wattpad life? I am very lucky to have a very good family. Our time together is always good. I love my family a lot!

Question 4: Do you share the fact that you're on Wattpad in your life, such as at school, or do you keep it under wraps? I keep it pretty lowkey. There are a few friends I talk about it with, but they have to be very close to me and I never let them read anything I write. Writing is kinda my escapism from my normal life so I keep it under wraps as not to mix my life and my escape if that makes any sense.

Question 5: Any plans for the future with your writing? Maybe any upcoming stories? Yes! I'm working on quite a few new projects currently. Most of them are being made for spooky season. I also plan to finish up some of my current stories soon and introduce others. Lots I'm looking forward to!

Question 6: Are there any big mistakes that you regret in your life or anything you wish you can go back and change? I don't have any big regrets in my life. Any mistakes I made were good learning experiences to shape who I am now! If I could change one thing, I would've dropped some toxic friends earlier in life. If I did that, I would have had the confidence I have now a lot sooner in life and avoided some situations.

Question 7: Are you facing any big struggles in your life right now? You don't have to share any specifics if you do not feel comfortable with it. I'd say I struggle a lot with finding the right friend groups. If I want to be liked I have to sacrifice some of my standards and morals (such as not swearing and wearing certain things). Because I stick to my morals it's hard to find good friends who respect that. It's a battle considering I do lots of things where I have to be surrounded by people all the time and not all of them respect me for my choices.

Question 8: Did you ever expect Dear DoubleO to explode like it did? Or were you just expecting a small crowd of people to follow it? Oh it was a complete surprise! I didn't even think it'd get a small crowd of people tbh. It was the first ever Hermitcraft inspired fanfic I wrote so I thought it'd just be a warmup to better fics in the future. Needless to say, I'm so glad that people actually did end up reading it and liking it.
