<new blood>
I walked down the stairs cautiously so as to not trip down already feeling the jet lag set in and my eyes slightly exhausted

Once I make it down safely I walk in the direction of where nonstop chatter is coming from
My ears perk up as I hear a feminine voice and my hands start to feel clammy while my throat tightens

I enter the dining room and set my eyes on Cassius on one end of the table with my father facing him on the opposite side of the end at the table
Right next to Cassius on his left sits Cassander and an empty chair on Cassius's right . Next to Cassander sits Cyrus and the opposite end of Cyrus sits Everette and right next to Cyrus on his right sits Malachi opposite of Malachi sits a kid , on fathers right sits another little boy around five or four years old and on fathers left sits a woman

Cassius
Cassander. Everin
Cyrus. Everret.
Malachi Little boy
Woman Kid boy
Father

"What.the.fuck" I say loudly absentmindedly as my eyes go to the little boy to the woman and to the kid and back again to my father

He instantly stood up giving me a hard glare "young lady watch your mouth" his voice cold
I rolled my eyes and took a seat down between Cassius and Everett since it was the only seat available
"God I'm surprised you didn't make it on the news yet" I said scoffing at what I was seeing

"Everin" I heard the chilly tone come from beside me
My eyes locked with Cassius's silver ones
"Cassius" I said back in the same tone
From the side of my eye I could see the rest of my family members eyes widen as I didn't back down
I wasn't a little girl anymore who was scared to speak her mind in front of her older brothers
His eyes harden as I could tell he was trying to read me but I was unreadable. Frustration was evident in his eyes as he clenched his jaw

I looked at all my brothers they had all the same features as my father raven hair and silver eyes yet my hair had blonde roots underneath the layers of black and as a child I would always hide it with a pony tail but sometimes when I was alone I would let my hair down...those that know told me to dye it and that my hair was too beautiful to be tied up but my mother had blonde hair and I always cherished it as a part of her was given to me...

My brothers were all fit handsome looking males I wouldn't be surprised if all of them had girlfriends

They all scanned my face probably taking in my matured and grown appearance after all the last time they saw me was at the age of 12 when I was pranking the household with bringing roosters in and setting them in everyone's room so they could have there own personal time alarm

I remember my mother scolding me while trying to keep her laughter at bay but when she looked over at my brothers pissed of sleep deprived faces she immediately bursted out laughing and I went down with her giggling like a maniac, my brothers eyes softened at the sight and said they would get payback but before they could...the accident occurred and I was sent away...

I could see something in Cassius stare but it quickly went away as my father cleared his throat wanting our attention on him

He finally looked down and I turned my attention back to my father with a raised eyebrow
He sighed and gestured to the woman who was giving me a smile "this is Genevieve my fiancé and her two sons"

The silence was the loudest thing in the room
"Bring me some lime and salt" I said capturing the gaze of the maid standing behind the table who quickly nodded and raced into the kitchen
"Everin I am speaking to you..." my father spoke again his voice steady and stern

The maid came back with a plate of two limes cut in half and a small bottle of salt I shooed her away with my hand as I received the plate

I started sprinkling salt over the lime needing something strong knowing damn well my father wouldn't let me drink at the moment

"Everin " my father said my name with more warning laced in his voice
I continued to bite on the lime and then proceeded to squeeze out the juice and drink it letting it send a bit of a burn down my throat

I jumped as my father slammed his fist on the table making everyone's breath hitch "you will not disrespect me in my own house!" My father roared with anger

Genni or whatever the fuck her name was put her arm on my fathers shoulder whispering something

"No I don't care if she's my daughter she should greet you with respect!" He replied harshly

That's when I set down the plate and chuckled darkly "respect? Respect!? Why should I respect this commoner who came out from underneath the pile of trash in New York whose clearly using you for your money and status don't be blind father " I seethed between my teeth as I clenched my jaw glaring at the woman who was now looking down at her lap obviously intimidated at the situation

"Hah and you picked the weakest one in that pile of trash. I mean look at her how could she ever hold the Blackwell name! Hell she can barely put on lipstick right" I said narrowing my eyes on her

She looked up embarrassed wiping the smudge of red on the edge of her lips

"Being a Blackwell means being Strong, independent and challenging "
I recited the words my father would always say before me and my brothers started our training

My fathers hard gaze slightly faltered "how could you tell us to be those things when yet the partner whom you chose is none?" My voice full of ice as my gaze clearly intimidates the woman as she starts twiddling with her thumbs

"Everin go to your room" my father said win a strict tone

An amused smile appeared on my face "you know after sending me away for five years I would've thought you had regretted your actions but instead your clearly living your life perfectly unbothered...." I said the last part as a tinge of hurt squeezed at my heart before adding the next words which I knew would make him regret his actions

"Mom would be disgusted..." my fathers eyes snapped to mine I could see the questions swimming in his eyes

The questions I never answered that night

The questions everyone had to what actually happened...

Ironic they sent me away so rashly blaming me for mothers death when they themselves didn't even know what had occurred....

With that I made my way up stairs as my eyes glanced around my brothers hardened faces I shrugged it off and rushed to my room shutting the door on the way in and laying on my bed as my eyes stayed trained on the portrait of my mother holding me as a baby stood on my night stand...

I clutched the locket around my neck and squeezed it making a silent promise
'I swear to you I will find out the truth and avenge your death...mama'
