The Sadness

The next morning I woke up in his bed only wearing his sheets. "Oh my god..." I put my hands to my mouth as he lay next to me in deep sleep.

I sneaked out of the bed and dressed. I stood staring at him for a couple of minutes and headed back to the house. I snuck in without anyone seeing me, I hopped into the bed and dozed off.

That afternoon, Ellen decided to send us over to Kevin's. We didn't protest and headed over, even though I was mortified to see him.

"Hey there girls" He directed his look at me, and I blushed instantly, just recalling the events of the night before made me tremble with happiness and embarrassment.

"Hi Kevin...listen my mother sent us over to invite you to the party Friday night...it's going to be lots of fun." She was mocking her mother.

"Sure thing I will be there. Hey, go ahead and play this next game with your brother. I need to talk to Sam..." He grabbed my hand and led me inside. "Hey I was looking for you this morning."

I smiled "Yeah I had to go...Ellen would kill me if she knew I didn't sleep there last night. She sent us to invite you to her party."

I was still embarrassed, but slightly comfortable with him. "Oh well that should be a party huh?" He smiled, which made me smile. I suddenly leaned in to kiss him, he didn't hesitate and kissed me back.

"Wow...I like you like this...with your guard down..." He hugged me tight, he smelled so good and the warmth and tightness of his hug made me feel happy. I wrapped my arms around his waist tightly. "I knew there was some type of affection in you." he whispered into my ear.

Playfully I pushed him away and we exited the house. Mat and Heather smiled as if their mission was accomplished as they watched us playing around.

"I knew you two would get together..." Mat teased as Kevin poked his ribs.

"Yeah you guys look so cute together..." Heather added.

I blushed once again "Shut up you too. We have to go and finish helping your mother." I kissed Kevin again and we headed home.

"Hey don't forget the fair will be at the promenade tonight..." he yelled at us.

There were only a couple of days left for the big Smith's party that most of the neighbors knew about, meanwhile the kids and I had a blast hanging out with Kevin.

We went to the fair, ran around and splashed on the beach. I was having a great time and as much as I had fought it I felt very close to Kevin. "Hey, we only have a week left before we go back home." Mat blurted as he let his sister have a splash of water to face.

"Ew salty water, you dork! after that we have to go back to our normal lives...and that sucks..." Heather added as she got her brother back with a shove in the water.

Kevin smiled sadly at me "You can stay here with me." I'm sure he was joking.

I laughed, I knew that would never happen. Doing something like that sounded like a fairy tale to me. We all continued our horse play in the water.

Later that evening we went to the promenade to watch him sing again...I was really trying to fight the feelings that were growing in me. The way he grinned at me, that sparkle in his mysterious green eyes, the way his body felt against mine.

I watched him intently as he sang "No one else comes close to you...no one makes me feel the way you do..." he was gorgeous and I was feeling that sadness again. It wasn't the same, but it was still sad. We would be going home. I would probably never see him again.

After the show we all walked together, Heather and Mat playing with Pete ahead of us. He squeezed my hand "You look a little thoughtful tonight. Is everything ok?"

I looked down at the sand. "Yeah I'm fine...it's just that this trip is almost over and I have to go back to reality."

"You can stay here with me...I'm serious, you know." He stopped and stared deep into my eyes, which made my stomach summersault "I know this is bizarre but...I think that I'm falling in love with you. I mean..."

As I heard those words a knot grew in my throat and I continued walking "Sam wait...I'm serious..."

"No...you're not Kevin...you're just confused. This is like a summer thing you know. We will probably never see each other again after this."

He grabbed my arm. "No, don't say that. I will see you again...even if I have to go back to Los Angeles."

"Please drop it Kevin ok...just don't say that again ok." We continued to walk silently back to the house.

The next morning I woke up in his arms again, regardless of the heated conversation we had. It had become a routine sneaking out of the house just to have him make love to me. He was so sensual and good at it.

I smiled happily as I snuck back to the house, but my smile wiped off as I bumped into Ellen, who was standing in the kitchen. She asked "Hey there...where have you been...?"

I was ashamed to say "I decided to take a long walk..."

Ellen rolled her eyes, she knew where I had spent the night, but she quickly changed the subject. "Listen Mat is going to move into the room with you two, my sister Amanda is here..."

I grinned widely. "Ok...that is ok" the kids never bothered me, I didn't understand if she was asking me or telling me.

Amanda peered from the kitchen. "Hi there" she looked at me from head to toe, making me uncomfortable. Then set a mat on the deck floor and started to stretch.

I looked at the tall blonde woman, she had a wide smile and crystal blue eyes, not to mention she seemed to be an exhibitionist.

"Hi" I finally answered.

She was wearing a white bathing suit that showed everything that god had given her "I'm Amanda...I've heard so much about you." she seemed sarcastic and fake.

I faked the smile back at her, "Me too, Ellen always talks about her little sister." Ellen looked at me wide eyes. The only time I'd heard about Amanda, the famous sister, was when she was talking about what a slut she was. Now here they were playing besties. "Nice meeting you." I ran up the stairs and stood at the last step listening to their conversation about me, once I was out of sight.

"This little bitch...I know she was over there last night. She's old enough to do what she wants, I can't say anything..." Ellen took a sip of her coffee.

"That's true, but you did bring her here to watch your kids, not screw the neighbor. Anyways, don't worry that will not happen anymore...I mean you guys only have about four days to go...you should let Kevin have his fling! He'll be over it once he sees I'm back." They both laughed as they sipped on their coffees.

I was confused what was the big deal with Kevin, so what if I was sleeping with him. I understood the part of me being here to take care of the kids, but they were big kids and I was sneaking out after my work hours. Plus, I was a grown ass woman...sort of.
