CHAPTER SEVEN: Romcoms and Sugary Snacks
══════ • ❀ • ══════Allison and Lydia leave, the former dropping the latter off, then goes home where she plans to tell her family everything about the Kanima, not holding back on any information.
Meanwhile, Derek looks at Samara for a moment, and they have a silent conversation where they both understand that Derek needs to go after the creature. Melina helps her sister walk towards their house, but is stopped by Scott calling out to her, "are you coming?"
Melina looks at her older sister for a moment then at Scott, shaking her head, "I'm going to stay with Samara." The younger girl's statement does surprise Samara, as she thought Melina would go with the teenagers. Scott nods, understanding the situation, plus he can smell the dried blood around her wound knowing that whatever happened to her, was not good.
Samara sits on the couch, a small wince coming across her facial expressions. Melina paces to the kitchen, starting the kettle to make some chamomile tea, remembering that Samara used to do that when the younger LeFay was hurt. But, Melina also knows that Samara's injuries are not going to heal just by the herbal tea, so she collects the ingredients to make the healing ointment that their mother taught them how to make.
She puts several kinds of herbs and a few oils in a stone mortar with a pestle. When Samara hears the commotion happening in the kitchen, she calls out to her sister, "I don't need that, Mel, I'm already stitched up." This makes Melina gasp in horror, "it's that bad that you needed stitches?" she asked, moving her hand faster to grind the ingredients.
Melina finishes making the paste, and fills the mug with hot water, adding the tea bag. She makes her way to Samara who has a small grin on her face while watching her younger sister become so worried. "Show me," Melina instructs, and Samara listens, knowing that if she doesn't then Melina would not calm down.
Lifting up her shirt, Samara watches her sister grimace. Melina's fingers ghost over the stitches, not wanting to touch them but inspecting it. Then she frowns, "did you do these?"
Samara takes a sip of the tea as it's properly brewed, sighing in relief. "Why are you asking?" She responds evasively. "Well, there is dried blood around it which means it wasn't cleaned thoroughly, and it's not like the proper surgical stitches you normally do, Sam." Melina explained and her older sister was almost shocked at her explanation, knowing she's right.
"Well, I don't normally stitch myself up on a daily basis, it's obviously not going to be perfect." Samara lies and stands up to leave the room, although she's not sure why she didn't just tell Melina the truth. Her younger sister looked at her with a quizzical expression, "Derek did it, right?"
Samara instantly turns around, almost glaring at her sister, "so what if he did?" She asks defensively but Melina raises her hands in front of her, "nothing, I was just asking. You know I'm the one who asked him to come find you."
Samara's gaze softens, "you did?" she almost frowns, not understanding why her sister's revelation hurt her. Although Melina didn't notice how Samara's expression dropped, she walked closer and embraced the older LeFay. "Of course I did, I was so worried about you because you didn't even text or call back."
Melina accidentally hugged her sister too tightly, putting pressure on the wound which made Samara groan out loud. "Shit, sorry," Melina apologized.
Samara and Melina sit on the couch again, the former turning on the tv while the latter grabs some snacks from the pantry. "You know you can go with Scott and Stiles, I'll be fine on my own."
