I never thought so much could change in the course of just one day. I didn't even realize it was changing until it was far too late to do anything about it. But then again, even if I could have stopped the changes, would I have wanted to?

"Hey!" I yelled out in shock as I was bumped into from behind.

"Mmm, sorry..." I heard the person behind me mumble quietly.

Turning around slightly, I caught a glimpse of pale grey eyes glance towards me before the boy looked down. He seemed to be trying to hide behind his chin length, dark brown hair.

"Forgiven! Just try to be more aware of your surroundings in the future, ok?" I said with a smile.

The boy glanced up quickly before looking back to the floor with a mumbled ok. A light dusting of pink spread across his cheeks as I continued to look at him. Hehe, how cute. My thoughts were interrupted as the line moved forward, people grabbing trays and filling them with various kinds of 'food' for their lunch. Why did I have to forget to bring my own lunch today of all days. Most would call me a picky eater, but really I just wanted to eat something that I could actually name the ingredients to. Is it really that bad to enjoy eating something that didn't come in a package? Oh well, one day of eating school food wouldn't have that much effect on me, other than maybe an upset stomach.

Maybe I could just eat the salad and some fruit? I really don't trust the looks of the 'mystery meat' hot dogs they are serving today.... Is that really even meat? It looks kind of... grey for meat.... Ok! Salad and fruit it is! As I fill my tray with leafy greens and slices of apples and oranges, I notice the boy beside me staring at the hot dogs like they were going to attack.

"I wouldn't risk it." I said, nodding my head towards the stack of grey 'meat' laying before him. "They might bite back."

I couldn't hold back my grin as his face quickly turned towards me, eyes wide with shock. After a moment of staring at each other he slowly began loading his tray with salad, still eyeing the hot dogs from time to time. I grabbed a random dressing for my salad and lightly drizzled it on before grabbing my tray again and walking away to hopefully find an empty seat somewhere.

After lunch was over I headed to my next class, the one elective I always took each year, Library Aide. I loved books so much I couldn't help wanting to be around them as much as I could. The library in my school was quite large and with all the students randomly misplacing books after picking them up, it was a constant job to keep the books organized, but I found it to be satisfying. However, today I knew I would have to work hard to keep things in order.

Exams were coming up and the place was filled with panicking students looking for books so they could try to cram as much knowledge into their brains as possible, usually in as little time as possible. I never understood why they wait so long to begin studying, since it makes more sense to me to just study a little extra every day for the whole year. That way the knowledge is absorbed into your long term memory so that you are less likely to forget everything. It makes no sense to cram it in quickly, just to forget it as soon as the test is over.

Then again, I never did understand most of my classmates way of doing things. Maybe that was why I didn't have many friends. But I would rather have a handful of real friends, than a bunch of people who called themselves friends until it was no longer convenient to do so. I've seen people get betrayed by so called friends so many times I can't even keep count.

Better get to work though, I can already see books being left in stacks on the floor over in the history section.
