Solo Missions

Denki came to a small town that was his target destination. The whole trip his heart was aflutter. He finally kissed the girl he had been pining for. He made out with her. If their crows hadn't told them they had separate missions, they probably would have gone further. He saw that the sun was just rising. He was exhausted. He went from one mission to the next and now he was here. Almost 48 hours without sleep. He needed to get at least five hours. He went to an inn, paid for a night and passed out. He woke up while the sun was still out.

This town was rather talkative about the strange stuff going on. People randomly getting pulled by an invisible force was the most common statement. Denki immediately had a plan to take the Demon down when he was inevitably facing it. Asking around he heard that a shed on the opposite side of town was the most common sighting ground for it.

When he got there the sun was not close to setting. And the shack was well shaded. He could hear inhuman feasting inside. He was in the right place. He had at least two hours. He decided to go back to town to grab a bite before heading to fight the demon.

He took his food over to the shed and just sat down to eat. His crow flew down and watched.

"After this mission, will I be partnered with Kyoka again?" He asked

"Perhaps. Perhaps not. Finish this mission." The crow said.

Denki finished eating, tossing a few small bites to his crow, and got ready to end this simple mission. The sun went down and the shed's door opened. A bearded lady demon walked out of the shed. The demon laid eyes on Denki.

"Ah, great. A Demon Slayer's here. I was hoping it'd take at least a month before I was found," the demon said.

It extended its hand and Denki began flying towards it. He smiled as his plan was about to work, flawlessly.

"Thunder Breathing, Second Form: Rice Spirit!" He called out.

In five strokes he cut the demon's arms and head off.

"Are you kidding me! I barely even got started!"

The demon faded away rather quickly. Denki made his way back to town. After several waiting in his room in the inn for a while, his crow descended again.

"North! North! Head north!"

Denki nodded before going to sleep. He'd start up tomorrow.

Kyoka journeyed to a forest, not entirely dissimilar to the one she and Denki fought the Muscular Demon in. Her heart was also aflutter the whole way. She and Denki had made out. And she liked it. She had wanted to go even further than just their kissing. In those moments she wanted him. All of him. When she entered the forest it was almost like she had a sense of deja vu. Multiple inhuman sounds were heard. She journeyed to the center of the forest where the sounds were their loudest. As she was expecting, she found the demon.

"What the? A Demon Slayer?" The demon asked.

This demon had an appearance that looked kind of like a lizard. In front of it was a mangled corpse. Kyoka took up a ready stance. The demon sighed and pulled a sword from its back.

"My Blood Demon Art only allows me to stick to vertical surfaces. I have yet to see if I can keep up with a Demon Slayer, so this'll be a fine test."

Kyoka took a deep breath.

"Music Breathing, Seventh Form: Woodwinds!

She shot forward. On her fist swing she knocked the sword aside, and on the second, she sliced off his head. The demon was completely surprised by the speed Kyoka had exhibited. She had managed to decapitate him effortlessly.

"In retrospect, I should have been in a city instead of a for--"

The demon was nothing before it could finish its sentence. Kyoka exited the forest and made her way to the nearest town. After she had rented a room from an inn, her crow came flying through her window.

"South! South! Demons to the south!" Her crow said.

"Will I be meeting Denki there?" She asked.

"Regrettably, he has his own mission to the North."

Kyoka was sad. It'd be a while before they saw each other again. She knew it. She went to sleep. She would get to her mission tomorrow

For several days, Denki and Kyoka were sent on solo missions, much to their disappointment. Occasionally they'd be assigned to assist a Hashira, like Denki was told to assist the Wind Hashira Katsuki Bakugo while Kyoka was asked to assist the Mist Hashira Hitoshi Shinso. But after several days of solo missions, they finally had a new mission together.
