It was time. School had finished, and after we had said goodbye to our friends, me and Oliver began to walk home.
I set up my phone, pointing it downwards, so he wouldn't be suspicious. We walked for a bit until I finally said,
'I, uhm, I have a crush on you. And I completely understand if you don't like me back.'
Silence. Dammit, I probably screwed it up. He didn't say anything for, what felt like, a million years.
'This is awkward...' I repeated at least 4 times. At one point there was a van coming up the road we walked up. 'Oh, there's a van, don't get run over!' Still nothing.
Then, when we were about to depart, he stopped and faced me. My heart was pounding, I was so nervously. A lump formed in my throat, as I repeatedly tried to swallow. My hands were shaking and my lips were dry. I just needed to hear a response.
