Chapter 5. FALLEN STARS.

I woke up to an interesting feeling. In a way, familiar. It seemed uncomfortable, but it had something soothing. My head was finally empty. Free from all worries. It dawned on me that this was the chapter where my story would end. The bonds around my wrists were uncomfortable, but not painful. My bones were shaking, but I wasn't overly cold. Everyone will fade away at some point. If so, why not now? I will avoid disgrace, I will not let the nation down. I didn't actually say goodbye to anyone, but I think it could have been a lot worse. So why am I filled with this... this... sadness?
My mind is torn between what my body feels and what my soul feels. My perception is distorted and uncertain. I feel the urge to do something productive, but it's impossible. I'm soaked, so I guess I'm on a not-so-airtight ship. After what I overheard from the conversations taking place above the cabin, I know that there is still time left.
Exactly... what is the end? Does it mean anything?

After the speech, I pushed through the crowd of subjects eager to touch me or have any contact with me. Of course, my guards successfully prevented them from doing so. "Xan Stoveleba," they shout. The Golden Prince. Why? Gold is a symbol of glory, perfection, wealth, sunlight, heart, blood, greed, temptation. They divide into two. Those who humbly bow to the Radiant One and those who... think of me more as the Wicked One. It hurts me more than I care to admit. "Wstart gravi," others chant. Yellow bird. Yellow means light and majesty. Close to the symbolism of white, but it also has an oppositional meaning... it means hostility, betrayal and shamelessness.
Most of them are poor. I understand them. Not from experience, of course. From observation. It's not hard to envy people like me. Tsarevich Erick. Heir to a fortune and a wealthy state. Handsome and smart. I envy myself my uniqueness, if such a statement is even possible. Some people have no specific reason to hate me. Racquas. He... he thinks of me as a pampered prince. He's wrong! It's not my fault that I'm so perfect! I sigh. I'm not sure why his opinion is important to me, but this vaxsil (fool) is like a match to oil to me! After the party, I had no way to confront him and I took it out on duty. My hand still itches when I think about his cheeky half-smile!
It turned out that he was at the party by accident. Naturally, I removed the person responsible for this outrageous error. I mean, I didn't mind his company... when I was surrounded only by money-hungry girls.
I clenched my fist for one more reminder. Spoiled brat. Something too.
Finally people were dragged away. The narrow street was now mine alone. I walked through it with grace worthy of a perfect, NOT a spoiled, prince. My anger reaches its peak when some people cross MY street. I pulled one of them by the hair, preventing him from moving further. When I did this, his companions fled without looking back. Two of my soldiers followed them. I smiled. I trained them well. The man I was holding by the hair was made of sea salt and looked like he wasn't part of that group. He was wearing wrinkled and wet but good quality clothes, so he was probably wealthy. He was wearing a blindfold and his hands were tied behind his back. I slid the fabric away from his face, hooking my nails into his skin and peeling it off lightly. I turned his face to the light cast by the lantern and froze. There was a juicy bruise on his face and a lot of scratches, but other than that I was sure.
"Prince Racquas" I said, not hiding my surprise.
"Well, that's the end" He began to ravish. " It's so bright heree. So the Jesus Christs followers were right after all? Are you an angel?" and then he brazenly fainted.
I had just found the kidnapped Prince of Kamdun and was pulling his hair. I am finished. No one will believe me that it wasn't me who brought him to this state... Will I start a war? By the Holy Moon, hopefully not!

I woke up to a strange smell of herbs in the air. I'm not sure what exactly I felt, but it was strong. I slowly sat up on the bed. My vision was still blurry, as it always was when I woke up, but I was sure I didn't know this place. It was something similar to a hospital. My sudden sitting up woke up the person sitting in the chair, who had his head on the bed.
" Before you do anything, let me explain! " he exclaimed in a loud voice that I think I already recognize.
I slowly leaned back into a lying position.
"I'm listening." I whispered because I couldn't speak normally. My head went blank. I didn't know where I was... who I was either. There was something authoritative and sharp in this person's voice, if I may describe it that way.
My vision cleared. I saw a man with blond hairowls sticking out in all directions and beady eyes that bored straight into my soul. It was on the tip of my tongue. E..e..e. It definitely started with e. But what happened next?
'So... I realize what it looks like' He began slowly, carefully examining my face, and the last few days slowly dawned on me: the ball, the kidnapping and... the rescue? That's too strong a word. Help? Not really either. Something like that, anyway. 'You're probably sure it's all my doing... but I swear! This disappearance from the party had nothing to do with me! You were just in the wrong place at the wrong time yesterday and found me when... I wasn't in the best of moods. Of course, I will make up for this injustice. The right amount. How much do you want?'
"I don't want your dirty money," I said, rolling my eyes. 'Besides, I don't buy your story. It relies too much on trust, which I don't have for you.'
'My money is dirty?! You are a dirty, peasant! Oh. I mean-'
"You quickly managed to go from asking for forgiveness to calling me names," I raised an eyebrow. "But I think I can let it go..."
"In exchange for appropriate payment? No problem."
"Money is not the answer to every question..."
" You're bargaining hard... hmm, theoretically I can accept your offer of partnership, but how would the conservative inhabitants of Kamdun accept it? You know, I could" at this point I stopped him.
" With your permission, I don't want your hand."
"Oh no. Do you want my ass?" He said frightened. I'm too young to let loose!"
"First of all, you are 22 years old, and secondly, at this point I honestly don't know if you're joking with me or if you're really that stupid."
"Excuse me?! You're the one making some strange demands... " I interrupted him again.
"Actually, I haven't said anything yet because you keep interrupting me! Would you shut that mouth from time to time?!"
"But what a handsome mouth. Im not surprised you'd like to suck my di"
"Hold me, or I'll  punch him!"
"Are you hearing voices? Phew, maybe you'll die and I'll bury your body in the garden and I won't have to finish this conversation!"
I clenched my fists and tried to breathe, but it was too much for me.
"Your stupid comment just reminded me why I stopped being friends with you." I said in an eager tone.
"I'm the one who stopped being friends with you! " He was outraged. Oh no... that little spoiled shit!
(This was supposed to be a very long conversation...)
