a/n: Y'all are so lucky writing is a good coping mechanism of mine because that means you're about to get some good chapters.

btw: I kind of publish these as I write them and come back to them later to edit them, so you might see small changes. Or, if you see a mistake, please comment it and I'll fix it.

Due to the lacking discharge process, Sasuke was out of the hospital as soon as he stamped whatever paper the nice nurse lady pointed at. He didn't really understand what he had signed, but he had just been walked out of the hospital and left alone.

He really didn't know what to do. Was he supposed to wait for someone? He didn't know where he lived.

Did they expect this seven year old boy to walk himself home?

Where was his family? He knew his mom and dad were gone, and possibly a brother. But surely there was someone to take care of him.

A grandmother or uncle? Maybe a cousin or family friend?

A foster care worker for crying out loud!

So he waited, because what was he supposed to do? He found a bench and simply sat there and watched the sky. Noticing just how blue it was and how bright.

He prefers this sky.

The air was so clean and he felt like the could breathe for the first time sense waking up in the hospital.

He hadn't realized it before but his room had smelt of iron and bitter antiseptics. He cringed and quickly smelt the clothes they had given him, he would have to change whenever he could.

Not only were they, in his opinion, boring and weird. As the outfit was made of a shirt with thin double sided fabric, white on the inside and dark navy on the outside with a high and stupidly wide turtle neck. Plus a basic pair of black shorts and some blue sandals.

He wasn't good at fashion by any means but he knew, either from his mother or a past relationship he couldn't remember, that the three colors: dark teal, navy, and black, probably shouldn't go together.

Stupid seven year old probably dressed himself.

All the clothes also had a stitched on red and white ping-pong paddle. Weird but, he's seven, he guesses it's not that weird.

It's kind of weird.

"Nanishi-" He quickly looked up at the sudden voice right next to him, a little embarrassed, "-re you doing?"

He was met with a brown haired, chubby boy with funny red swirls on his cheeks and a green zip up. He looked at Sasuke with concern, which made Sasuke itch, was the concern really for him? He wanted to look away but worried the boy would start talking again he just shrugged and kept his eyes up.

The boy sat next to him and gave a quick glace to their surroundings before leaning forward to whisper, "I heard my dad telling my mom what happened." As he continues talking the caption under his mouth grows longer and he leans back a bit to see it. "Are you doing okay? You look kinda sad just sitting here all alone. Aren't you planning on going back to your clan's compound? Do you have anywhere else to go?"

Sasuke continued to lean back to try and read everything that was being said to him, trying to take it in. The boy must be saying this in all one breath if the words weren't restarting, or perhaps the translator just hated him because the boy suddenly stopped and scooched away a bit.

"Sorry, Sasuke. I just mean to ask if you're ok."

He feels bad, he wasn't leaning away because of the boy, though he had been close, it was because of the stupid captions. He sighed and pulled up his legs to rest his head on his knees while still maintaining eye contact (not really, but mouth contact is... a different thing) with the boy. He shook his head, shrugging his shoulders again.

He's kinda... not really ok.

"Do you... um," The boy reached up and scratches his cheek, "wanna come over? I'm sure mom would love to cook for you! I personally think that food heals all wounds." He gave Sasuke a closed eyed smile briefly, waiting for a response.

Should he? He doesn't know how to speak and going over to someone's house involves a lot of talking usually.

He rather not be a burden.

This would be so much easier if he didn't have the stupid self conscience of an 18 year old. He's seven, he should act like he's seven.

Actually no, that's embarrassing.

Seven year old's are gross.

But he's hungry, so he agrees. With a "hn" to which the boy responds to with an eyeroll and a quiet "Uchiha", which he believes he wasn't supposed to hear.

And it leaves him a little bewildered as he follows the boy by his heel, why??? What does that mean??

It was a small verbal tic, right? Not a word? Did he say something stupid??

Chōji Akimichi, knows that as a clan head he shouldn't be brining the last Uchiha home. His parents had told him, in a rather roundabout way, that it could be seen as a political move by their clan.

Yet as he was walking to Ino's he passed the hospital grounds, he had to do a double take at the Uchiha boy. Sasuke was simply sitting on a bench ignoring the stares from civilians and looking at the clouds. The Uchiha boy looked so sad. He was used to the proud and snooty Sasuke.

He started walking over to him, watching in amusement as Sasuke smelt the clothes he most likely just got back from the hospital. He knows his dad hates the smell.

"What are you doing?" He asked politely and smiled at the surprisingly startled Uchiha.

Sasuke actually kept looking at him as he moved and sat next to him. He was different, and he looked funny with the pouty face he had.

Sasuke was quieter, spoke a lot less, like not at all. He used to at least share pleasantries, even if he always looked ruffled when responding. Now he just looked nervous, nicer, but nervous.

To be honest, at first Chōji didn't know what to do with him. He wasn't supposed to bring the last Uchiha home.

Luckily, Chōji was friends with Shikamaru, and Shikamaru was the smartest person he knew, and Shikamaru always used his age to get away with things. Seven year old's are stupid, adults don't expect a lot from them, especially during peace times. (During war times... kids had to grow up fast because the adults died even faster.)

If Shikamaru used that to his advantage, why couldn't Chōji?

Thats how he got a confused Uchiha following him, just a step behind.

He wasn't particularly good friends with Sasuke, but he was empathetic. He could see that Sasuke was lost, and he didn't doubt that he was sitting on that bench so he could procrastinate the return to his empty house.

Chōji was just helping him.

And if Chōji secretly hoped he could get closer to the quiet Uchiha then, well, who's gonna stop a kid from befriending another kid?
