Walking across the balcony, I could see the sun rising over Ripont. I was only wearing a thin nightgown, and my feet and arms were bare, exposed to the late February chill. Maman was expecting a letter, and the postman came very early. I wanted to watch it arrive. I was praying for it to arrive.
