6:00a.m.

my alarm clock rings loudly.

i stop the alarm, and sigh.

i look at the ceiling just zoning out.

"abby! wake up!" my step mom yelled from downstairs.

i sigh as i get up.

i get out from my room, and went downstairs.

"hey, sleepyhead. how'd you sleep?" my step mom asks.

"uhm... fine, i guess." i replied.

"come on, sit. i made breakfast." she smiles.

"uh... no thanks. i'm not really hungry." i said.

she sighs. "have even eaten dinner last night?" she worriedly asks.

a little panic grows inside me. "uhm... yeah, of course." i lied.

she looks at me with a concerned face. "honey... you can tell me. you know that, right?" she said.

"uh-- yeah. yeah, i know." i look down.

"honey..." she softly spoke.

"i-i'm fine, ma." i said.

i actually call her mom or ma now.

she insisted that we could call her that.

and i've actually wanted to call her that.

she slowly smiles. "okay, honey. will you go wake up george and alice, please?" she said.

"yeah, sure." i smile back.
