Parental Failure

When I was a kid along with my brother and sister my parents bought foods very high in sugar. We used to drink soda all day. The repercussions of this was by age 16 I had 10 cavities that I couldn't afford to treat. It was a combination of unhealthy food choices by my parents and they literally never taught us kids how to brush our teeth and the importance of oral hygeine. I was 3-4 years old in Arkansas when I noticed if I scratched my teeth with my fingernail white stuff came off. I know now it was plaque or tartar build up from never being taught to brush regularly. In fact I approached my parents and grandparents three or more times presenting them with my problem, and not a single one of the adult caretakers explained to me what not brushing your teeth leads to. One tooth required a root canal and a crown which was $3,000 and $200 per cavity. Fortunately, my sister covered the bill and I am very grateful she did because I wouldn't eat even soft foods without pain in my molar
