Hansel And Gretel (Clerihew)

Hansel and Gretel
Adrift in the wicked wood, crooked and caliginous
On a horrible night, at a horrible time.
At the eleventh hour, a penny dropped from heaven
As there stood a house of candy, lollipop window and ginger bread door

Lo and Behold, a ruse it was
Might I say, a genius one
Days passed, clock ticked, desperate times clicked in
The humdinger Hansel
gave the warty witch
A thin plump of bone
And the wise Gretel broiled the seething sorceress.
Together they beat a hasty retreat from the poisoned chalice
To their wretched yet homely hut.

Hansel And Gretel (Limerick)

Hansel and Gretel, tween years old,
Stay in a house of candy as the tale is told,
The gingerbread door is the hex door
Tricking the witch, they escape the abhor
To their cottage as fast as they could.

Clerihew and Limerick are two forms of poetry. It was another class activity in my Creative Writing Class.
