Chapter Two

Ellie walked Lene to school and her classroom before hugging and kissing her then going to catch the bus to her own school.

She showed up early and went to her locker to take off her jacket and stuff her duffle bag inside. She arranged things to her liking and set her lunch inside before closing the blue metal and going to Brenda's locker.

Brenda showed up a few minutes later. "Hey!"

"Hey."

"Where's Brian?"

"Late as usual."

"I resent that!" Brian Lago walked up, offended.

"Stop being late then." Ellie leaned against the locker next to Brenda's.

He grumped as he stopped next to them. "I'm not always late."

"You're constantly on CPT."

"Stop."

"Sloth."

Brenda laughed. "You're so bad!"

"You sound like my sister."

"Which one? You have two."

"Three." Brian corrected. "Don't forget the baby."

Ellie didn't correct them. "I'm so thirsty. I want tea."

"Are you British? Why do you drink so much tea?"

"Because it's good?"

Brenda laughed again as she finished up. The trio turned to walk down the hall to go to Brian's locker.

Suddenly a hand reached out to push Brian into the bank of lockers.

The girls jumped as Brian hit the metal hard.

A group of football players laughed and high-fived. "Watch where you're going, sissy boy!"

Ellie grew immediately upset. This bullying problem wasn't going away and she'd had enough. "Hey! Tiny prick!"

"Ellie, no!" Brian grabbed her hand.

"Brian, you are getting hurt."

"Oh?" The football captain, Trevor Scott grinned evilly. "The fat geek has a problem?"

"The ugly inbred will."

People around snickered.

Trevor burned. "I'm not ugly!"

"You sound like a damn infant, you priss." Ellie set her bags down. "But if you think you're going to keep harassing my friend, you're dumber than you already look."

Trevor's best friend, Damon Craig laughed. "What can you do? You're like a foot tall."

"I can still kick your ass, Uncle Tom."

Damon gaped.

"Touch him again and I'm going to touch you."

"You've got girls fighting your battles, sissy boy?" Trevor blinked at Brian.

"Don't talk to him, you piece of white trailer trash. You may be too into your closet but I'll burn it down."

Trevor nearly died. "I'm not gay!"

"It's 2024, boo boo. No one will judge you. At least until they get to your style."

Kids were whispering loudly around Trevor, who hated the negative attention. "Whatever, bitch. You're not worth it."

"Stop quoting your daddy."

Damon barked out a laugh accidentally.

Trevor was humiliated and vowed to pay Ellie back. He stormed off, his friends behind him clowning him.
