TWs: Funerals, Speaking about death

It was sunrise when Centross burst into the observatory, tearing streaming down his cheeks. "Hey, Love, what's wrong?" 

I pulled my boyfriend onto my lap, letting him cry into my chest. "R-River's g-gone" He sobbed, "He's d-dead" Tears began welling in my eyes, and I cried into Centross' shoulder, "The- The funeral is tomorrow if you want to come with me?" 

"I'll come, I need to be there"

"Hey Ocie, I got Oscar to sle- What's happened?" Jerry walked in on me crying, clutching my communicator to my chest. 

"River, that sweet, innocent little boy- He's dead Jerry, He's actually dead" Jerry wrapped me up in his arms, "How the fuck are we gonna tell Oscar?!" I sobbed. 

The two boys had become friends of the sort, growing close very quickly. "I don't know, but we'll work it out, I promise"

"Hi Sissy!" "River?!" My brother stood next to me, his tail swinging from side to side. "Hiii, I wanted to talk to you!" "What about?" He took my hands in his, "I wanted to let you know that I did it all, Brookie!" 

"What do you mean?" His eyes sparkled, his lips drawn up in a bright smile. "I lived, I got to do all these amazing things before I died, I enjoyed every second, I lived Brookie" Tears welled in my eyes, a few landing on the paper that I was writing my speech on. 

"And I want to tell you that I miss you all, but I want you to live too" He took the pen from my desk and put it in my hands "Tell everyone that I want you to fall in love so much that it hurts, I want you to spend your days like you'll die tomorrow,I want you to live, Promise me you will?"

"I promise" He smiled and disappeared in a cloud of stars. I scribbled what he'd just said into my speech. I went over to my mirror to check my outfit. I wore a long black skirt and a white top with detached sleeves, with a pair of boots. 

I heard Rae walk past and poked my head out of the room, "Uncle, Can I run over to Athenas? He offered to do my hair for today" "Yeah, just be quick okay?" I nodded and hurried over to Athenas house. 

Jamie answered the door, "Hi Jamie" "Hey Brooke, Athena's upstairs" I smiled and met with Athena. "How did you want to do your hair?" "Can you do a small braid at the front like River always had? And then just tie the rest back in a half up half down?" They nodded and got to work, quickly putting my hair up and slipping a Lily of the valley into my hair. 

"Thank you" "Anytime, I'll see you soon?" I waved as I rushed home, running into Wolf and Centross. "You look beautiful Brookie" Wolf smiled, "Thank you Uncle, you both look very fancy." We went inside and waited for Icarus to show up, Fable was going to be running the funeral while Icarus was pallbearing with the others. 

After we said our goodbyes, Rivers casket was nailed shut and we began carrying it up the hill. Aax and I walked behind, his arm around my shoulder. Town hall had been set up already and people were already seated. 

An Allay put a music disc on, playing a mournful tune as the casket was carried in and set on a bench like thing. I took a seat near the front as the funeral began. I managed to keep myself together until it was my turn to speak. I walked up to the front and began my speech. "Thank you all for coming today, I'm sure River would be happy to see you all. 

As you know, River was my little brother, a ray of sunshine in such a dark world. When he was younger River was a bright and bubbly kid, despite our situation at the time" I reached up to fiddle with the necklace he had given me. "A few hours ago I actually saw him, I know some of you may not believe me but I promise it's true. 

He told me to tell you all something" I took a deep breath, "I wanted to let you all know that I did it all, that I lived, I got to do so many amazing things before I died, and I enjoyed every second, I lived he said" 

My voice thickened slightly, "And I want to tell you that I miss you all, but I want you to live too. I want you to fall in love so much that it hurts, I want you to spend yours days like you'll die tomorrow, I want you to live, Promise me you will?" 

A few tears slipped down my cheek, "Can everyone please appreciate this beautiful ceiling, whilst I compose myself" A collective chuckle ran out through the crowd. 

I pulled myself together and looked at Rivers coffin, "River, you will always be in my heart, thank you for being my brother, no matter where you are where you'll go, I will always always love you" 

I placed the flower I'd been holding the entire service on his coffin, "⌁◡⋋⋱ ⋈⊼⋒, ⋱╯ ⋬⋢⋖⋖╯" I walked back to my seat and let Fable take the stage again. "That was an amazing speech Brooke, it takes a lot of confidence to speak like that" 

A few other people gave speeches and we got ready to take River to his final resting place. The pallbearers picked up the casket once more, Fable taking the lead with Aax and I right behind the casket. We had picked a spot near the ocean, just past the house. 

Addie stood next to me as the casket was lowered into the ground and covered with dirt, an arm around my shoulders. Everyone paid their final respects and the crowd dispersed. I went home and hid away in my room. 

'Other me, are you still there?' 'Yes, I am, I've just been letting you... Process the last few days' 'Thank you' 'You spoke well, River would be proud, and so would your parents' I lay back in my bed, talking to the voice. I think I was starting to enjoy their company.
