"HOW ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO SURPASS ALEX WITH THESE GRADES?!" my mom shouts, holding my maths paper which has a D+ on it and as if this day couldn't get worse I received a tight slap from my father *cough* he then grabbed my neck choking me "How many times have we told you, you are only born to surpass him, we gave birth to you so you can be better than him," he says as he finally let go of me, I gasp for air "and remember we brought you into this world and we can take you out, now go clean up and go to bed," my mother displayed no sympathy in her voice, I nod and head upstairs.
Hey, my name is Ice Madeline, I live in a world where everyone has two abilities called jolts oh did I mention that we can teleport...but that requires a lot of energy ok enough about this world it's my turn, my jolt is that I can manipulate Ice, ironic I know and I can also manipulate objects I know it's cool but not that cool for me since I rarely use it.
Everyone is born to live a life but I was born for a purpose as my mom said 'I was born to surpass my mom's friend's son because my mom's friend was better than my mom in everything and after she had a son she thought that was her chance to beat her so she had me....yeah she can be a bit stupid sometime...but my parents never wanted to have children so you know how that went.
I was lying on my bed, my 13th birthday was in a few months "ICE YOU BETTER GO TO SLEEP OR YOU'RE SLEEPING IN THE BASEMENT" my mom shouted from downstairs I put my black hair in a messy bun because I was hella tired to braid it but most of my hair fell over my glass blue eye but once I got that fixed which certainly didn't take me a whole ass 15 minutes I went to sleep...

It was 5:30 I was all ready for school and I went down to make my parent's breakfast, I arranged the pancakes on the table as I heard them walk downstairs, they sat down and started eating I threw my bag over my shoulder I didn't get to eat breakfast because I was already late but did they care? Absolutely not! I caught up to my bus and arrived at school, just as I was walking in I was splashed with water "Sorry didn't see you there" Mia said with a smirk and a mocking tone holding a water bottle.
"Oh, I thought you just had extremely awful fashion sense I didn't know you had bad eyesight too," I scoffed as I said it in a mocking concerned tone and walked off.
Mia hated I got better grades than her but it's not like I wanted this either I just wanted a normal life but the universe always likes to hate on me...As the day of living hell came to an end as I got off the bus I realised my parents weren't home yet I threw my bag down and ran to the park to see my best friend. As I arrived at the park I immediately spotted him...
"ALEX!!" I shouted
He was caught off guard but he still replied in a calm tone "Ice, how are you doing?" Alex says, yeah my mom wants me to surpass him but that doesn't mean we can't be friends, right? he is the only friend I have since, stupid Mia bullied everyone who tried to talk to me "Alex, I wanna learn how to fight" the words just slipped out of my mouth and Alex's face was of confusion and shock "wait really?" he asked he was sent to a fighting course and always told me he could teach me how to fight but I always refused.
"Just wanna try something new" I said but I was actually scared of Mia, her father was a politician and she once beat up a girl with her bodyguards for 'annoying' her so yeah I don't wanna be turned into a bloody chutney, I don't wanna give her the satisfaction of that.
"Ok, sure" I turned to Alex who was smiling but my face had pure shock written all over it "Wait...really" I asked him blinking like a lifeless cow "Are you kidding you know how long I have been waiting for this moment" he said with a huge grin I smiled back in response "we are starting tomorrow" he said proudly
Tomorrow is the start of a new beginning...
