"Are you sure you want to go on your own?" Y/n was leaning on a wall outside their room as Ryuko changed inside.
Sanageyama, the member of the Elite 4 that Ryuko had beaten the day before, was back for more. A wooden sword with a paper spelling "CHALLENGE" was left on their doorstep, and thus the girl wasted no time in changing into Senketsu.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" Ryuko walked our of their room, now donning her sentient Kamui. "I beat him up once, I'll just do so again."
"It's just..." He scratched the back of his head, looking up in thought. "I find it weird. You saw how they treated the guy after you defeated him last time. I doubt they'd just give him another opportunity like that."
"Well...It is suspicious" Ryuko put some thought into it as well, but soon shook her head and pointed to herself. "I'm still not backing down though, I'll go there and tear him a new one!"
He sighed. "At least let me come with you just in case things get rough." He began walking, but was stopped as Ryuko placed her hand on his chest and pushed him back.
"Nah, I'll be fine. You don't have to get involved." She winked at him with a confident smile, walking off and uphill. She shouted back. "Tell the others where I went! I'll be back before breakfast!"
A part of him wanted to go with her, really. You can never be too careful, something he learned way back. But it was early and another, bigger part of him screamed at him to relax and go back to sleep.
With another sigh, he walked into the room full of the snoozing Mankanshoku family and laid down on his designated spot. Almost immediately, a sleeping Mako latched onto him almost by instinct, something that he was now used to.
'Just this once...' With that thought and the hope that nothing would go wrong, he drifted back to sleep.

His body was bandaged heavily, his head held down and his gaze obscured by his hair. He stood in a ring surrounded by spikes protruding from the ground and into the sky.
Ryuko climbed the stairs into the ring, but instead of addressing the uncharacteristically calm and silent Sanageyama, she looked up and stared defiantly at the figure perched on her rightful place above all.
"Giving someone who was beaten a second chance..." She smirked mockingly, shaking her head slightly. "You've gone soft it seems, Satsuki Kiryūin!"
But the queen herself smirked right back, unbothered by her claim. "Will you be able to say the same after this battle, Ryuko Matoi?"
