Kitchen counter 11:30 am
Kentrell's POV

"Mmm,"

I grabbed the box of sweets and chewed some because these were so good, and I needed to see what they were called to get more today.
Let me go now.

As I stood near the front door, the doorbell rang. Confused because I wasn't expecting anybody, I pulled the door open,

"Ben? What are you doing here so early?"

I stepped back as Bentook the door handle from my grasp and closed the door slowly,

"I wanted to catch you before you left the house this morning. I couldn't talk over the phone. I didn't want to, anyway."

I nodded, still confused about what he was talking about.

He gestured for me to go into my living room. I quickly sat down and watched Ben, anticipating what he would say. Ben looked at me with a perplexed expression.

"Okay, if I show you something, you promise not to punch me?"

I disagreed because I needed to know what it was before I agreed to anything.

"Tell me what it is first."

Ben sighed, nodding to himself,

"Follow me."

The two men headed back over to the front door but pivoted and began heading to the back door.

Ben opened the back door and checked to make sure I was following him.

Near the cottage, the two stopped walking, and Ben faced me before speaking again,

"She's pregnant."

Kentrell's Back Patio 3:33 pm
Omniscient Pov:

Kentrell kept his gaze on the silent woman as she munched on the food Ben had bought her a few minutes earlier.

Ken watched as she snuck her food as if someone were about to be taken away.

He wondered where Ben was and why he left him alone with her.

Her cheeks went big and fluffy as she finished chewing the last bits of her food.

She faced Kentrell, finally making eye contact with him.

He could see her visibly sigh deeply before looking away.

She met him once more before she slowly stood to her feet, sliding her feet into her flats and walking away. She chose to go through the side of the house because she wasn't sure she was allowed in his home.

               Kentrell's POV:

I followed her, catching up to her as she rounded the corner near the side of the house.

I stepped in front of her. When she noticed me, she stepped back, turned, and tried to rush off oppositely.

That's when I sped up, rushing after her. When I got close enough to her, I pushed her against the wall, and her right hand went over the top of her stomach.

She was breathing hard as she gazed up at me. She chewed on her bottom lip, quietly watching me.

She tried to move off the wall, but I stepped closer to her, enclosing her. She lightly pushed on my stomach and lower chest area so lightly it was as if she didn't touch me at all.

She backed up, hiccuping slowly as she laid her hand on her stomach.

"I'm afraid,"

She whispered as she laid her head on me, her left hand tightening around the fabric of my shirt.

Kentrell's POV:

We had been standing there silently as she cried into my chest. I was getting ready to hold her close when I heard a bit of commotion coming from the front of the house.

I gently pushed her head off my chest, briefly checking her face and body before I gently grabbed her hands and led her toward the commotion, making sure to keep her behind me.

As we approached the front of the house, I could hear two distinct voices. As we kept walking forward, Ben came into view. I could listen to him trying to calm whoever he was talking to.

"Ben, I don't give a fuck. Where is she? I know she's here. Now tell me where!"

I stopped momentarily as I looked over at where I had left her waiting, and she had fallen asleep against the patio door, completely missing the argument.

I grabbed her arm, this time walking her toward the front,

"Are you looking for her?"

I asked as I walked up the stairs, tightly in my grip.

Afternoon 2:13 pm

"I'm not going to ask again. Now, where is she?!"

The two watched as the man shouted, unsure of what he implied because they weren't sure what was happening. However, they came closer to hear the conversation but kept their distance. The woman stood slightly behind the man, hiding herself from the angry man as best as she could without being suspicious.

However, after some time, the shouting man turned his head, looked around, and spotted something out of the corner of his eye. By this point, the two at the back of the house had ventured to the side of the house due to the commotion.

The two had now made their way up and onto the porch not too far from the two talking men. With them being that close, they were not too hard to miss, as they were standing just a few feet.

"What are you doing?" the unknown male asked the two.

Knowing that he wasn't speaking to him, he looked behind him and waited for her to answer but couldn't help but voice his question before the first could be answered,

"You supposed to be over here?"

She remained quiet, clutching onto his t-shirt even tighter than she already had been.

"Exactly! Come the fuck on!" The unnamed man came toward her, took hold of her hand, and gently walked them off the porch steps and across the street and down the sidewalk.

The two long-time friends watched on as the two mystery people walked for a bit before they watched them stop. The male turned toward her and turned her toward him. From where they stood watching, it looked as though he was shouting at her, and that became true when they heard the distinct,

"You told him!" Before the two continued down the sidewalk and around the corner and out of sight.

The two friends shook their heads in disbelief at what had happened in the past few hours. But one of them couldn't help but wonder and worry for the woman, not just because she was pregnant but because of the two men, as he witnessed, who were in her life and didn't treat her that well. His friend included, even though they hadn't been around each other that much. He knew how his friend was with women. He just hoped this time was different.

"She'll be back." Ben consoled himself with that notion because he did hope she would be. He had a feeling that she was going to turn their world around in the best way possible, and he wanted that.
