as much as jules loved visiting her friends in the holidays, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief when she returned home. as similar as her house was to the burrow, jules enjoyed the quiet comfort of living up on the moors. the weasleys' home was loud and full of life and jules loved visiting, the quiet of her family's cottage was her familiar, her preferred environment.

she had missed her brother, not that she would ever tell him, and a sense of dread filled her when she looked to the coming school year: her first time returning without cedric. the feeling grew when she reflected on the upcoming war— while she was safe at hogwarts, cedric was left vulnerable to attack, and the thought of not knowing whether her brother was safe or not was a terrifying concept for a younger sister. at least cedric didn't have to worry about her.

both her father and brother had been at work when jules returned home, a relief and a disappointment— while it would have been nice for them to greet her, she knew it was no fault of their own, and jules was rather enjoying having the house to herself after barely having a moment to think at the burrow.

unpacking was easy, she'd mostly borrowed old clothes from ginny considering said girl had a huge growth spurt over the summer, so it didn't take long to sort through and wash her dirty clothes. molly had of course offered to wash them for her, but juliet felt she'd taken advantage the woman's kindness, so politely refused. she didn't mind the mundane tasks of everyday life, always enjoying spending time in her garden, even if it was simply hanging out clothes on the washing line.

her brother found her painting in the conservatory in the late afternoon, he only saw her completely calm with a paintbrush in hand. usually he'd find her with music accompanying her brush strokes, however today the quiet serenity of the moors filled the silence— windows and french doors fully open. cedric knew not to disturb his sister when she was painting, it was the only time she would allow herself to fully relax. after grabbing a glass of her homemade lemonade and placing it down on the coffee table, cedric left his sister in peace, knowing she'd join him soon.
