It's around 2:40-ish. I wasn't really keeping track of the time. I had an appointment with Doctor P. in ten minutes. I didn't really feel like going but if I didn't mom would have my head.

I zone out mentally preparing to face Doc. One thing about him is you can't hide how you're feeling he'll always know whether you're lying or not. It's like a 6th sense.

3 pm. Time to see Doctor P.

I knock before pushing the door open.

'Ren, Nice to see you today' he signed

"Thanks."

I enter the familiar pastel blue and white room

'So how have you been doing?'

"I have been doing ok I guess. I met Mrs. Johnson while I was in the park after I got chased by some ducks"

Doc chuckled at that. 'How on earth did you manage to get chased by ducks?'

"Well, not so long story short. I was feeding them then I ran out of food, they chased me for a good while before giving up."

Doc knows I prefer not using my aids and rely on signing or lip reading daily so most of the time when we talk he's the one signing and I use my voice to reply rather than signing back.

'Back to what you were originally saying. How did your talk with Mrs. Johnson go?'

I took a deep breath here comes the emotional serious part of this session. I told him everything that happened. He knew I was a bit sensitive around the topic with Maya. He's been patient, letting me say what I have to at my own pace. At the end a few tears streamed down my cheeks. I vigorously wiped them away looking down at my lap.

I didn't like when I cry much less when people see me cry. It made me feel... well I can't find a word for it but it made me feel a way I didn't like.

I looked back at Doc, seeing him already looking at me. 'You don't have to feel bad about it anymore. Ren I know you have problems expressing yourself to others and you're slowly getting there. As a reward you get 2 lollipops today.'

Smiling, I take up his offer. "Also, something else happened."" I- um maybe got a... crush?"

He smiled at me intrigued with a glint in his eyes. I'm already regretting this. 'What's her name?'

"June, She works at a coffee shop, the one that's conjoined with a book store. She has beautiful ebony eyes and-"

Shoot I'm rambling.

Doctor P. just watches me with amusement dancing in his eyes.

"What" I ask already knowing what's coming next.

'Nice to know you're opening up your heart, kid. I can see how whipped you are for her. She sounds nice.'

'I'm not whipped' I signed back. 'She doesn't even know I'm deaf'

'Would that be a problem between you two?'

'No-, yes I don't know. I haven't reached that far yet'

'Yes, yet' He says giving suggestive eyebrows. Doc glances at the clock taking note of the time. 'Well I would like to stay invested in your newfound love life but our times up. I'll see you on our next appointment, Ren.'

I get up stretching from sitting on the sofa for so long. "See you later old man"

"I'm not that old boy, not yet anyways."

My session with Doc helped a lot. Talking about your feelings, past trauma and demons really help.

I'm gonna try something different today. I'm gonna paint in color. Pastel colors.

I sit on my chair letting my hands move freely across the canvas. I don't know how long I spent painting but by the time I was finished I knew it was late.

I paint when I can't express my emotions properly or to let out steam or stress. Painting is my escape from reality.

I painted a girl sitting on a bench looking up at the sky painted in different colors. I put my initials at the back of the canvas as well as the date. It's the first time in months, maybe for the whole year I've painted in color.

I feel proud of myself. I took a big step.

Its progress.
