Katya's pov:
We sat on the roof of a building, goofing off, Malakai being an idiot, I'm surprised the moron was able to be so energetic all the time. "Hey Mal, it's literally about to be midnight, shouldn't you be going home?" I asked. "Nah, no one's waiting for me at home anyway." He responded. "Damn, really? I can kinda relate to that honestly" I replied.
Silence.. We sat in silence for a while, until he asked me a question.
"I'm no one's son, and your nobody's daughter." He smiled, and I couldn't help but smile back, because he was right, we were both alone in this world, but we were alone together. I never smiled, so I saw him make a suprised face when I did. He laughed, looking like he just won a million dollars, just because he made me smile. He was happy for the stupidest reasons, but that's what made him, him.
I sometimes think we were friends in a past life, and I honestly hope we're friends in our next lives.
