Clari Poud liked to talk, or at least that's what Anona concluded. Not long after the child's breakdown in the mayor's office, Clari dragged her and Tobias from town hall and crammed them into a luxurious car. Or well... luxurious for Nine's standards.

Clari went on about how the vehicles back in the Capital were twice this size with much nicer fabric and more space. Not that Anona complained as it was her first time riding in a car, ever. District Nine didn't have many proper roads, most being dirt or gravel with tractor marks embedded into the soil.

The only proper mode of transportation throughout the district available to the public was by tractor, combine or what most people used... their own feet. Anona didn't even think anyone other than the mayor had a proper car in the entire district, and even then the car wasn't his. The car was strictly for Capital officials to use when visiting. Only so much gas was spared for Nine as it had to be used strictly for the vehicles tending to the wheat and other grains.

So as Clari complained the girl just nodded along and agreed with them. It was easier that way.

Besides, the child was more focused on the landscape passing by. With her hands firmly grasped around the large ring her father gave her, Anona Dagan watched for what she thought would be the last time she'd ever see her district. Knowing cameras could be anywhere she kept her chin low, yet head high, as she stared at the ocean of yellow. Seeing the wheat fields standing still as the car brought her further away.

She wondered if Harlo would work out there one day. Most of her people did, yet there was always a need for other means of employment, her father being a prime example. Unlike Anona, Harlo didn't show much interest for medical, once vomiting at the sight of an infected wound of a patient brought to their house in the middle of the night.

Maybe he'd become Mayor? Anona thought to herself. They were rather close to the family, and with Ebony being even closer with Harlo, she could picture Mr. Fairway taking him on as an apprentice.

It gave the twelve year-old a small snippet of comfort to think that's what would become of her brother, hating the idea of Harlo ending up as a field worker. Where he'd undoubtedly lose a finger or two as many people in the fields usually did.

As they passed more of the district Anona gave a glance to her teammate, Tobias. The midnight haired boy looked rather annoyed by Clari's constant ramblings of what was in store for them on the train. His piercing blue eyes glaring at the escort as they went on, "...and it runs about two hundred miles an hour, so we should arrive just by sunrise."

Other than the obvious hatred he had for their escort she could tell he was rather calm, almost too calm. Much different from herself. It was taking all of Anona's strength to not scream in that moment, beg to go home, but she knew it wasn't possible. Anona always knew the districts were property of the capital, but now she was by name.
