it's been a while since chris has actually cared so much about a girl, so he can't exactly remember what all it entails. he's aware of the cons, judging by the sting he feels in his heart, but he mostly remembers that caring means sacrificing some things. so, he ignores the tightness in his chest as he walks out of class with destiny, managing an upturn on his lips when he looks over to her. "so when'd he say he wants to hang out next?"
destiny grins at the question, and chris takes it as a sign that shoving his feelings down may be the only option he has. really, how could he ruin that smile with his usual recent scorn of disapproval? he can't; it would be selfish, and with the newfound knowledge of his feelings, he thinks he's ready to be done with that type of toxicity. he guesses this must be the worlds way of paying him back after leaving other girls feeling like this.
"he said we could go off campus for lunch together," she answers, adjusting the straps of her backpack as they walk. luckily, the class they reconciled in was their last of the day, so they're on the way to meet the group at matt's car. chris' lips first twinge downwards at her words, but he quickly corrects it when she looks to him.
