"No, no. I've seen what you do to all of those innocent people. You know they have families to come back to right?!" I argued with my father who was just groaning and sighing after everything I was saying.

"That is the lifestyle we've all lived for the past, what, sixty years?" He crossed his arms, annoyed.

"It's the lifestyle I refuse to live." I scoffed, no way was I going to spend my life killing innocent people just so I could say my clan is the strongest.

"Yuri. You are part of the mafia. You have no choice." My brother spoke, alongside my father.

"Oh great, you too. Don't you have more families to kill?" I deadpanned as they collectively rolled their eyes.

"You don't understand anything at all. We don't kill innocent families nor people, those who have done us wrong - backstabbed us or even killed some of our team, that's who we challenge." My father tried to explain to me, but nothing was coming through my head.

I just didn't understand the normalisation behind mafia lifestyles and how people could simply indulge and entice themselves with the gruesome reality of it.

It was something I never wanted to associate myself with, especially after being shown it my whole childhood.

"Yeah. No, that doesn't make it any better." I chuckled at their futile attempt to try and convince me to even try and join their kind of life.

"You will just see, we'll get you married to a nice mafia husband, I already have a few on my list-"

"Don't even try." I warned him, staring at my father intently. I was not about to marry some random man too, at the early age of 18. Not a chance.

"Yuri. You're gonna get yourself disowned." My brother nudged me, whispering in my ear as he walked away.

I simply shrugged, not breaking eye contact with my father who stared back at me, swinging a pistol around his finger.

"You don't want to continue the mafia lineage. Correct?" He suddenly inquired, looking down at the gun he was swinging around.

"I refuse to." I corrected him assertively.

"Okay. Fine then, since you refuse to, how about I refuse to grant you accomodation and this luxury you have here." He suddenly became bitter and threatened me with kicking me out.

"Suit yourself." I spun around, heading for my room to pack my stuff.

PRESENT DAY

"Let me see that ring." I asked Heejin to show me her hand, she was 25 and now engaged. She flaunt her hand towards me, a medium sized carat laying on her finger.

I nodded my head as the rest of the girls observed at it, approving.

"Lucky lucky girl, have you found a dress yet?" Miyeon asked eagerly, we all intently listened in.

"Girl, I just got engaged. But soon. And you all are definitely my bridesmaids." She giggled, looking on her phone at wedding dresses.

On the outside, I showed myself as the ordinary girl - ordinary life - nine to five job, all of that. I had never told anyone about my past, my family life and what they even did.

If one of them figured out I had mafia ties I feel as if my entire life would be ruined. It'd just be weird, like imagine telling someone you kill people for a living. Not a good impression at all.

"Okay.. then how about we celebrate tonight? For Heejin?" Aeyeong inquired, looking at us all to see if we all would agree.

"I'm so down." I told them, which sparked everyone else to agree.

So, we arranged to go to the club together, obviously, dressed up and dolled up for the night. It was a good day, especially for Heejin who'd gotten married to her childhood lover.

It was cute how people could last so long without something fucking up. It made me wonder when it was my turn to have a nice relationship that actually lasted longer than a month. But considering the guys in my region, not a single chance of that happening.

I somehow disassociated midway doing my makeup, just thinking about that. I didn't really want to end up alone, but to be fair, with the selection of guys, it looked as if that was my only option.

Nonetheless, I finished getting ready, checking my phone to see if any of the girls were ready at all. It seemed as if I was the last one to finish, whoops, I accidentally zoned out for a bit too long.

I made my way into the taxi, which drove me to the meetup spot, and immediately, I recognised my girls, all glammed up for the night.

"YURI!!" The four of them engulfed me in a hug, squealing and jumping excitedly. We made our way inside, it was peak times in the club, alot of people and the vibes were strong.

Here we go, a night of anything but being sober.
