Last night, sleep slipped away from my eyes; every time I closed my eyes, his smiling face haunted my thoughts.

I woke earlier than usual, finding the palace immersed in an uncanny silence. I figured, why should I be awake alone when I have a best friend to annoy!!

Initially heading towards her room, my mind was clouded by thoughts of him again. Unknowingly, my feet diverted toward his room, tempting me to peek in. It felt wrong, but I couldn't resist.

Despite nail-biting and ridiculous thoughts, I slowly opened the door to find him peacefully asleep.

Lately, I've only seen tension on his face; he's never seemed at peace. His face, a picture of perfection, and his lips—let's not dwell on that. I closed my eyes, trying to distract myself.

"He's your best friend's brother and a king," my subconscious reminded me

lekin ye ladke ki audacity toh dekho  meri neend haram karke ke khud aaram se so rha h ( but look at this guy, disturbing my sleep while he peacefully slumbers).

After gazing at him for a moment, I quietly closed the door and made my way to Divya's room.

Her door was slightly ajar. "You didn't sleep?" she asked, noticing my expression.

"Is it that obvious?" I replied. Judging by her look, she nodded in affirmation.

She knows everything about me and I know everything about her, our routines, likes, and dislikes. She's a morning person, while I'm a night owl. She's the best person in my life, I am the luckiest person to have a best friend like her  but I never told her all this nhi toh sar pe chad jaayegi .

"What kept you awake?" she inquired.

‘YOUR BROTHER,’

I wanted to blurt out, but instead, I masked it with, "Just some stuff."

Trying to conceal the heat on my cheeks while thinking about him, I added, "Where are you going, itni subha subha tyaar hoke ( all dressed up in the morning )?" I noticed her simple yet elegant knee-length gown and striped heels.

"A meeting came up, remember I mentioned starting a fashion company linked with our company chain?" she explained, sorting through some files.

"Okay, now that you're up, let's have breakfast, and Dadi must have arrived by now," she suggested. I glanced at my attire—a full-sleeved t-shirt and tracksuit—realizing I needed to freshen up. "Let me freshen up at least," I requested, to which she made an 'I'm so done' face.
