Dreams POV:

It's been four years since George and I began dating, and it's been the best four years of my life. He's perfect in every way imaginable and I aspire to be a man more deserving of him everyday. I love him more than anything.

George is thirty three and I'm twenty nine. We've matured a lot, George doesn't look much older then he did years ago but I do. He's into it though, he tells me every morning.

I'm deeply in love with George and I know he feels the same. I've been thinking about what our next step is quite a lot over the last year and a half.

I'm in the jewellers looking for a wedding ring. I'm going to propose to George. I look through the bland men's wedding rings when a gorgeous ring catches my eye. It's a gold ring with blue sapphires around it. It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen and it's shines bright and elegantly.

If he hates it, I'll return it and get a better one, but I think this ring is perfect for him.

"Your acting weird." George says one day, as I lay in our bed.

"What do you mean?" I ask, nervously. Does he know I'm going to propose?

"I don't know, you just seem weird. Like you have something you wanna say."

"I do."

"Yeah?" He raises his eyebrows and grins.

"Do you want to go to dinner tomorrow night?"

"Yeah, sounds good, wait- is that our anniversary?"

"Oh yeah, I guess it is, I didn't even realise." I lie, avoiding eye contact.

It's difficult keeping things from him when I just want to yell, 'MARRY ME.'

We're about to leave to go to the restaurant and I'm so scared. An excited kind of scared. I know he'll say yes but a small part of me anxiously clings to the thought of him saying no. I'll be heartbroken if he says no. I want to be officially his. I want to call him my fiancé and eventually, my husband. I want a wedding, I want vows and I want a family with him.

I arrange a beautiful dinner in an outdoor restaurant. Fairy lights hang over our heads as we make small talk about the menu. My hand fiddles with the ring box in my pocket.

After we finish eating, I meet his eyes.

"George?"

"Yes baby?" He says, smiling while drinking his smoothie.

"I love you so much." I reach for his hand and his fingers tangle with mine.

"I know you do baby, I love you too." I blush at his words.

"We've been together for four years now and it's been the best years of my life. I couldn't have asked for a more kind, beautiful, smart and interesting boyfriend."

"Thank you. it's been an amazing four years and I love you so much."

"It's been four years and I think- I think that I want more. I want to be with you forever."

"We will be, we'll always be together. Your not getting rid of me that easily." He jokes.

"George, I love you and-"
I slide off of my seat and onto one knee, pulling out the ring.

His eyes widen and his mouth hangs open.

"George, will you marry me?"

"Oh my god, oh my god."

That's not a yes. Oh no, oh god no.

He rummages in his pocket and pulls out something I can't quite see. I think it might be his phone.

"Get up, get up." He says, quickly.

"Wait- what?" I say, confused.

"Sit back in your chair."  He commands, and I do.

I'm sitting on my chair and he gets down on one knee.

"I wasn't planning on doing this till later but you surprised me with that proposal. I guess our minds are just synced." He laughs.

"Clay, I've loved you for so long and it only felt right that I would propose to you on our 4 year anniversary." He takes a deep breath out.

"Will you do me the honour of marrying me?"

Tears fall down my face. The ring he picked for me is absolutely beautifully.

"Yes George, yes of course I'll marry you."

Our lips connect with haste before we put the rings on each others finger.

We kiss again and pull away from my fiancé,

"You didn't say yes to my proposal." I laugh through the happy tears.

"I proposed instead, that's the best possible response."

Our lips meet again. I could get used to this.
