AkariCallumlikedto think he had some control over his future. He knew he didn't have full control, the fates love to mess with anyone who got comfortable and he was fully aware of that, however he did think that if he remained uninvolved with the important events that seem to happen all around him, he could get a pass.
Evidently, the fates either don't like him or absolutely love him, and are hellbent on trying to give him an interesting life. Either way, Akari didn't appreciate it and wished they could give him a break, he's not even officially a teenager yet, give it a rest. Akari wanted nothing more than a simple life. He wanted to help his mom and grandmother run the restaurant below their apartment, talk with his friends, maybe get a girlfriend(or boyfriend), and not get chased by monsters or have to help save anyone from almost dying.
Unfortunately, the fates had different plans for him.
