Cassidy was finishing preparing dinner when the door of his dorm opened. He turned around and saw Hanzo, his partner, standing in the entrance.
A bright smile appeared on his face. "Darling, your back!" He quickly turned off the stove and approached his lover.
Hanzo was covered in dirt and blood, plus was letting some unpleasant odor that not even himself could tolerate.
But Cassidy ignored all that and hugged him tightly. "I'm so glad you're back," he whispered in a sweet tone in Hanzo's ear.
After a few minutes, he broke the hug to take a good look at him. Hanzo had some light bruises in his face. And looked tired and drained.
"Want me to take care of those bruises?" he asked, steoking Hanzo's cheek.
Hanzo shook his head. "No. I'll be fine." He sounded ever more tired that he looked.
"I just finished cooking dinner. Want to eat some?"
"I just want to take a bath and go to sleep," Hanzo sighed.
Cassidy nodded, understanding his lover wishes. "Sure. You can leave your stuff here and go get a shower. I'll take care of them for you."
Hanzo didn't hesitate to drop his stuff on the floor and walk to the bathroom. Cassidy made sure of storing everything carefully. He hanged Hanzo's bow with his quiver on the stand they built for that. Then, he proceeded to grab his back and clean it up.
As he finished, Hanzo got out of the bathroom wearing his pajama. "You sure you want to go to bed without eating something first?" Cassidy asked him again.
But Hanzo just ignored him and went to their bedroom. Cassidy sighed. It wasn't unusual from Hanzo to act like that, especially when he was tired. But he didn't blame him. Whenever he was back from a mission, he also wished to be in bed.
As he suddenly remembered, he grabbed a few ice compresses and quickly went to the bedroom. He found Hanzo lying in bed, trying to get comfortable. Hanzo didn't fail to quickly notice his presence.
"Cass... what are you doing?" He asked. Cassidy sat with him on the edge of the bed and quickly placed one of the ice compresses in one of his bruises. Hanzo back off his head at the touch. "What are you doing?" he repeated again.
"Taking care of you," said Cassidy with a gentle voice. "Let me take care of those bruises for you, honey."
He tried to place the compress again, but Hanzo stopped him by grabbing it. He groaned with a somewhat irritated tone. "I'm fine, Cole. I don't need you to take care of me."
But Cassidy still insisted, "Are you sure? There isn't anything I can get you or do for you?"
Hanzo's silence told him that there wasn't anything. After a few minutes, he went back to getting ready for bed.
"Alright then. I'll leave you alone." Cassidy stood up and walked to the door. "If you need anything, I'll be here," he added, giving him a smile. Hanzo just nodded.
Cassidy closed the door and let out a frustrated sigh. He was used to Hanzo being quiet and independent, to say the least. But he sometimes wished he would be more open with him. But there was no use in forcing him to do so. Hanzo did have a vulnerable and emotional side. He just didn't show it as often as he did.
Cassidy ate dinner by himself and did a bit of cleaning in the kitchen. He stored the remaining food in the refrigerator, knowing they could eat it tomorrow or another day as dinner. After cleaning the table, he went to do the dishes.
But as he was finishing, he felt something from behind. Someone hugged him tightly from his back, wrapping their arms up to his shoulder. He smiled as he looked over his shoulder. Hanzo was hiding his face on his back.
He chuckled, "Looks like someone missed his cowboy."
Hanzo took a few moments to answer. "You know I always do..."
Cassidy finished cleaning his hands before turning around and wrapping himself arms around Hanzo's waist. "You need something? Ice, painkillers, some sake?" he asked him with a gentle voice.
"...I need you," Hanzo said with a soft tone.
Cassidy looked at him a bit surprised and felt a little warm on his cheek. Before he noticed, Hanzo was pulling him back to the bedroom. They lay down, and Hanzo cuddled himself up in Cassidy's chest, holding him close.
Cassidy felt a warm feeling holding Hanzo so close to him. He couldn't help but smile. He started stroking his long, dark hair gently.
"I'm sorry for earlier," whispered Hanzo.
"Don't worry about it," smiled Cassidy, kissing his forehead. "I just want you to feel safe."
"I do," smiled Hanzo. After a few minutes of silence, Hanzo talked again. "Can you sing to me?"
"Sing?"
Hanzo nodded. "It helps me relax."
Cassidy smiled, and after a few moments, started singing a little fragment of a romantic song he used to sing from time to time.
In moonlit nights, our love takes flight,
Whispers of the stars, our secret delight.
Your eyes, like galaxies, pull me near,
A symphony of passion, crystal clear.Oh, love, like a melody, sweet and divine,
Our hearts entwined, forever to shine.
Hand in hand, through life, we'll dance,
In this love story, our eternal romance.Hanzo smiled and closed his eyes. Cassidy kept singing in a hushed voice. By the time he finished the song, Hanzo was asleep in his chest. He stroked his hair and sighed.
He was so in love with him. He would do everything for him. More after learning about how hard his life was. In some way, they two were pretty similar.
"I promise you, Han, as long as I live, you'll be safe with me." Cassidy kissed his forehead. And then relaxed his head on the pillow, still stroking his lover's hair.
And slowly, embracing each other tightly, he dooze off until he fell asleep.
