"You made the right choice, li'l bean," nakangiting sambit ni Max na humawak sa balikat ko bago ako inakbayan matapos ng pag-uusap namin ni Treacher sa telepono.

Sinamaan ko lang siya ng tingin. "Are you happy now?"

"More than happy," he grinned as he gestured for Avgust to come closer to us. Napansin kong kanina pa niya hawak ang mahabang bag na iyon. "This is your reward."

Reward? Kumunot ang noo ko nang ibigay iyon sa akin ni Avgust pero hindi ko agad kinuha mula sa kaniya. "Ano na namang pakulo mo?"

"You'll see," simpleng sagot ni Max na ngumisi sa akin. "Come on, open it."

Kahit na naiinis ako sa kanila pareho ay wala akong ibang choice kun'di sundin ang gusto nilang gawin ko.

Nang mabuksan ko ang laman ng bag ay napahinto ako nang makita ang laman n'on. This is .. crazy. He is almost certainly pulling a prank on me right at this very moment.

You really ought to give it a try, at least once, and it'll be a worthwhile experience, no doubt. As a bonus, if you manage to pull off your mission, I'll give you a standing job offer as one of our assassins or hitmen. Deal?"

Mas lalong lumalim ang gitla sa noo ko. Pinagsasasabi niya?

"Wala akong pakealam sa job offer na sinasabi mo. I only wanted to leave after this, so don't make it sound like I'm missing out on some great opportunity. Nakita kong wala pang naka-attach na magazine iyon, kaya naisip kong gusto lang nilang ipakita ang baril na gagamitin ko para patayin si Treacher. He's making sure I'm totally ready and in the right mental mindset to handle this mission.

"One more thing. How am I supposed to trust that you'll keep your word and actually let me go after I killed Detective Treacher? Nagawa mo nga akong i-kulong rito. Baka matapos kong barilin ang main target natin, ako naman ang isusunod mong pupuntiryahin."
