Jungwon |At school, I sat down at my desk, my mind still filled with worry for Jay. Just as I gazed out the window, someone I had never seen before took the seat next to me.
I looked at the boy next to me, surprised by the unexpected company. He smiled at me, and for a moment, I thought I was dreaming. Nobody ever smiled at me at school before!
The teacher's voice brought me back to reality. "Good morning, students. Today, I'd like to announce that we're going to have a new student in our class." I turned my attention to the front, and the teacher pointed at the boy who had just sat next to me.
He stood up with a friendly smile, introducing himself as Yeonjun.
During the break, I headed towards the cafeteria. As I walked, I felt a tap on my shoulder, and when I turned around, it was Yeonjun, the new student.
"Hey, Jungwon, right?" he asked with a warm smile.
I nodded, slightly surprised that he knew my name. "Yeah, that's me. And you're Yeonjun?"
He chuckled, "You got it. Mind if I join you for lunch?"
My eyes widened at the unexpected invitation. Nobody had ever asked to join me before. "Sure, I'd like that," I replied, managing a friendly smile.
We found a table in the cafeteria and sat down. "What brings you to this school?" I began
Yeonjun leaned back, looking thoughtful. "Well, my family moved here recently, and this school seemed like a good fit. It's been a bit challenging to adjust, but everyone's been nice so far."
I nodded in understanding, "Yeah, adjusting to a new place can be tough. But hey, if you ever need anything or have questions, feel free to ask. I've been around here for a while."
Yeonjun smiled appreciatively, "Thanks, Jungwon. That means a lot."
As we continued our conversation in the cafeteria, I found myself growing more comfortable with him, despite my usual nervousness around new people.
He noticed my hesitation and asked, "You seem a bit nervous. Is everything okay?"
I hesitated before admitting, "Well, I don't really talk to many people. So, this is kind of new for me."
Yeonjun raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "That's surprising. You seem like a cool person. Why wouldn't people want to talk to you?"
I sighed, feeling a bit vulnerable. "I'm not sure. It's just... I guess I'm not very approachable or something."
Yeonjun chuckled, shaking his head. "Well, that's their loss. I find you pretty cute, you know."
I felt my cheeks flush with embarrassment. "Cute? Me?" I stammered.
"I didn't mean for you to take it the wrong way. I just meant you're likable, like a friend. Sorry if I made it weird."
Relieved, I managed a small smile. "No, it's okay. Thanks for saying that. It's nice to have someone to talk to."
After some time, I started to forget about my worries, enjoying the newfound connection. However, the peace was short-lived as Minho approached us with a smug grin.
"Well, well, well, look who's got a new friend."
I felt a knot forming in my stomach, and I glanced nervously at Yeonjun, who was looking at Minho with a puzzled expression.
"Who's this, Jungwon? Your little sidekick?" Minho continued.
Yeonjun raised an eyebrow, clearly not appreciating his tone. "Hey, no need to be rude. We're just having a conversation."
