James POV (Back to the call with Gracie):I COULD FEEL my eyes grow wide as saucers, I knew the bewilderment was evident on my face.
Of course I knew the pop star, I didn't live under a rock. Gracie and I had been fans of her since before I could remember.
Well that and the fact I had quite literally caught a glimpse of her world while walking past the studio an hour or so ago.
One time we rocked out to Better Than Revenge, while Gracie poorly attempted to play it on the guitar.
I remember the tempo was too quick, too fast even for the children's First Act guitar, my mother had given her. Gracie shuffled through the strings, crying with glee when she played an A Minor just right.
Her fingers hurt for days. I remember leaving LA the end of that summer knowing all of 'Speak Now' and how to play it on pretty much any instrument JJ lent us.
"Are you kidding?" I gasped in disbelief. Gracie only hummed with excitement. "She called me personally on my personal phone like a week ago, I mean how crazy is that!" She squealed.
Her excitement was evident, given the tone of her voice. I couldn't be happier for her. Watching her live out her dream and work with Taylor Swift.
God there was something about her too. I always admired her drive and passion for the job, not to mention she was attractive as hell.
Gracie and I had a better relationship than most could probably say. We were fortunate to be one another's biggest fans.
" You deserve it, G" I smiled. Milo perked up as a little boy dashed through the gates of the park. For good measure, I tossed him a few pieces of my bagel.
It seemed to tame him while I kept my focus on the conversation. Gracie began to go on and on about Taylor, everything she uttered was true.
"I'm telling you James, this could be my big break" she tells me. My attention is shifted back now on everything.
"Gracie." I paused, "You don't need Taylor Swift to have your big break" the nonsense in that whole phrase gaped out at me. "Once you hit it off with Taylor Swift, you've made it big" she conjures right back
Gracie played at venues before, sold out ones too. After she released her newest album, the demand for her to go on tour was through the roof.
In the beginning, she asked me to tag along with her, photographing here and there. It was the reason college never did me any good. They couldn't teach me things I already knew.
I had my father to thank for that. Aside from his cleverness within the construction industry, his charm stretched far beyond the realms of that.
He had a passion for picture. Movies were his guilty pleasure, as are mine.
For a while it was just him and I, the two of us alone in this great big world. That's how I found about how much a picture can hold.
I had the better half of 2 cameras growing up. I used whatever money I could find, which was mostly loose change, beneath the cushions of the couches or the small lemonade stands my dad tended with me on the street outside our house.
