Sitting in the room, knowing that Ryuzaki is interrogating Amane Misa while Light is observing it, was unbearable. I wandered around from one wall to the other like a lost soul, waiting to be released, but after three long hours, I realized that I'd just been dismissed as a nuisance.

This makes me angry. I told Ryuzaki everything I knew, I tried my best to help him, and he just locked me in a cage, took my Notebook and uses me, knowing full well that Light can kill me at any time if it was to his benefit.

He has no authority to do so!

I kicked the table with all my strength and turned to the window, wrapping my arms around myself.

"Your world is unbearable without some apples," Urrius sighed as he watched me struggle. "I wonder when I'll be able to enjoy them once more."

Detective L, you asked for it. I'm tired of proving my innocence. If you think I'm going to sit back and wait for your orders, you're wrong.

With that in mind, I opened the window and stepped onto the window sill, feeling the wind whip through my hair.

"Hey, what are you doing?" The god of death asked in surprise, interrupting his yet another speech about apples.

I looked down. The height below frightened me. The world was little dots underneath. My head felt a little dizzy, but my fingers gripped the window frame tightly without my will. The instinct of self-preservation briskly reported the results of the potential flight from a height of twenty floors.

"What are you standing there for?" Urrius asked again, hovering near the ceilings.

Now you'll understand! You're not the only one who knows how to blackmail, you fanged bastard!

To execute my plan, I would have to provoke Urrius into giving me a little bit of help. If he's really attached to me, as Ryuzaki said, then my stunt will work.

"Beautiful," I sighed, leaning dangerously out the window.

The god of death moved closer, looking at me warily.

"What are you up to again, foolish girl? I'm not going to catch you if you slip."

"What would you care if I die?" I asked indifferently. "Except you won't get my soul and will go back to your world. And, of course, you'd have to forget about the apples. I don't care either way."

With those words, I stood with my feet on the window sill, no longer grasping the frame, and looked up. The fresh air was intoxicating, the adrenaline was racing my blood, and the bright colors of the orange sunset sky were making my head spin.

"I don't want to sit here and wait anymore," I said with my eyes closed. "What good will come out of it if I can't do anything? Ryuzaki almost died today, and what did I do? Nothing!"

"I did offer you the eyes..." whispered Urrius.

"Why would I need 'em? They won't help me save another life, only help to take it. You and I both know that."

With these words I hovered my foot over the abyss.

Shit, I hope I won't fall. My life wasn't exactly a sweet, but I didn't want to give it up foolishly.

Come on, god of death, fall for my trick... You must fall for it, or I'll lose.

And might actually die.

"So, you want to jump because you think you're useless?" Urrius asked with a chuckle. "You think you're worthless without the Death Note?"

"With or without the notebook, I'm just a weak human who can't do much on my own," I said, "I can't change anything. You call me a coward, yes, I suppose I am. I'm a coward who will never use the Death Note, because I'm not willing to pay the heavy price for having that kind of power. I'll never be Kira. But you know what? If I lose, I'll end up a winner."
