Y/N sat on her bed with her legs crossed, propping her elbows on her knees and her cheeks on her fists. She let out a long groan as she stared at the clock. This was the first weekend she had off in weeks, and yet all of her friends seemed to be busy or had previous engagements and couldn't hang out with her. She had sat in her room all day trying to find someone to hang out with or think of something to do, but she just couldn't.

Sighing, she fell back onto her pillow. Seven o'clock. There was no way anyone would want to go out with her this late, not after their 'busy' days. "I have got to get better friends," she muttered to herself, rolling over so she could bury her face in her pillow.

Suddenly, her phone ringing got her attention. She excitedly leapt up and ran over to her dresser, where her phone was and picked it up. "Hello?"

"Hey Y/N! How are you?" said a voice on the other end. "It's me, Peter Parker!"

"Peter Parker?" Y/N repeated, surprised to hear his voice. She had only met Peter a few times, mostly when she was with her ex-boyfriend, Harry Osborn. She and Harry had to break up, however, after Harry lost his dad and seemed to go insane. She didn't want to leave him, but she had to, for her own safety. She, Peter, and Peter's girlfriend MJ met up a few times after that to discuss what to do about Harry, but after searching fruitlessly for a solution, they all parted ways and lost most contact with each other for months. "Peter, why are you calling me after all this time?"

"I was wondering if maybe... you wanted to go out with me?" He asked hopefully.

Y/N stayed silent, blinking a few times as she registered what he had said. "You want to go out with me? ME? The one who dated your best friend?"

"Yeah! Is that a problem?"

"N-No. No," Y/N said quickly. "It's just... what about Mary Jane?"

Peter hesitated for a moment before answering. "She, uh, she left me for someone else," he admitted. "You didn't know?"

"No, I didn't. That's such a shame, I'm sorry, Pete. If you don't mind me asking, who did she leave you for?" Y/N inquired curiously.

"Uhm, she left me for Harry, Y/N. I thought you would've known, or at least, Harry would've gotten ahold of you to let you know he'd recovered and moved on," Peter told her.

Y/N's heart seemed to stop. "What? He's okay? And he didn't think to call me?"

Peter cleared his throat. "To be honest, I figured he had told you and I thought you would've been upset, so that's why I called. So I could take you out and cheer you up."

"I think I do need some cheering up now," Y/N whispered, still recovering from her initial shock. "What did you have in mind?"

"I remember how much you liked to dance, so I thought of you when I received two tickets to a Bugle Midnight Ball promotional event tonight," he explained. "I'm supposed to take pictures while I'm there, but I need a model. Y/N, will you be that model?"

Y/N smiled softly. "I would love to."

"Great!" Peter exclaimed excitedly. "I picked out a dress for you as a gift. I'll bring it over to your place and you can change, then we can head out. You have plenty of time, though, it starts in an hour and I can be at your place in five minutes."

"Sounds lovely. See you soon, Pete!" Y/N giggled before hanging up the phone. She squealed to herself and flopped onto her bed. "This is going to be so fun!"

The dress Peter bought for Y/N:

Y/N sat in the limo Peter had rented for them as it pulled up to the Ballroom. The whole ride, she had stared at Peter in his three-piece suit and admired him. He was more handsome than she remembered.

The pair got out of the limo and walked up to the ballroom. Y/N was buzzing with excitement, she was so relieved to get out of her house. "I can't thank you enough for this, Peter, this is amazing. And I love the dress!"

"You look amazing in it. It brings out your eyes," Peter complimented.

Y/N blushed slightly as they entered the building. Smooth jazz reverberated through the halls, which were decorated by stars and moons. The light was dim, but Y/N could still make out each individual person in the sea of ballgowns and suits out on the dance floor. There were concessions off to the side, but Y/N wasn't hungry. Luckily, Peter wasn't either.

He held out his hand to her and bowed slightly. "Care to dance?"

She laughed and took his hand. "I'd be delighted."

Peter led her out on the dance floor and placed his hand on the small of her back. Y/N, in turn, placed her hand on Peter's shoulder.

Y/N stared into Peter's eyes, and the other guests seemed to disappear. The pair began to sway across the floor, and Y/N's dress flowed gracefully around her. Their movements seemed perfectly synchronized.

"Since when did you become such a good dancer?" Y/N asked Peter with a smirk.

He spun her around a few times before bringing her closer to his chest. "I picked up a few moves from my Aunt May. She used to go to these types of things all the time."

Y/N laughed as Peter picked her up by the waist and spun her in the air. She never realized how strong he was. He set her down and they glided around the floor some more, Y/N just now realizing how many people had stopped to watch them. She suddenly became a bit self-conscious and leaned even closer to Peter. "Why are they all staring?" she whispered.

"Because you're beautiful, Y/N," he murmured into her ear before dipping her down as the song came to an end. He leaned in and placed a tender kiss on her lips.

Y/N was surprised at first, but she wrapped her arms around his neck and deepened their kiss after she decided she liked it. The crowd began to cheer, and Peter straightened Y/N, who was now red from embarrassment.

"They love you, Y/N!" Peter chuckled, embracing her.

Y/N shook her head. "You did most of the work."

"Don't humble yourself, you're amazing," he assured her. "God, Harry was so stupid to not reconnect with you."

Y/N smiled appreciatively but noticed that the band had not started playing another song. She glanced up at the stage and her eyes widened as she noticed Mary Jane staring directly at her and Peter.

Peter followed her gaze and smirked when he saw MJ on the stage. "Would you look at that?"

Y/N's jaw dropped and she pulled away from Peter. "You used me!" she exclaimed. "You used me to get back at her!"

Peter frowned and reached out to Y/N. "No, no, no, no, no, I didn't, I swear! I-I didn't even know she was going to be performing tonight. Y/N, I swear!"

But Y/N was already too hurt. She swatted Peter's hand away and backed up. "I can't believe I fell for that. I'm so stupid!"

Suddenly, another voice sounded over the whispering of the gathering crowd. "Y/N? Peter? What are you two doing together?"

Y/N whipped around at the familiar voice to see Harry Osborn pushing his way to them. Tears welled up in her eyes and Y/N couldn't take any more shots to her heart. Without saying a word, she ran out of the ballroom, both Peter and Harry calling after her...
