" hi! I've been busy with some practice. I hope everything is going well for you, good luck with your exam, bye "
Three days have passed and I've not heard anything from Tom since then, today was their performance in Germany so I decided to call him. After a minute of ringing
he didn't answer, I looked down at my screen to see the delivered messages and missed calls. I sighed and turned off my phone
"Hey, what flavor do you want? " Kate asks me
as I walk beside her and look at the ice cream flavors they have in stock. The man inside the ice cream truck looks down at me and smiles
"I'll get one cookie and cream," I said and the man nodded as I watched him prepare mine. I paid him as me and Kate walked around the beach together
"Have you heard anything about Tom yet? " She asks.
I looked down at the ground and shook my head, frowning. Kate looks at me and wraps her arm around my shoulder
" it's fine Addie, you don't have to worry about it. Maybe his just busy practicing for their concert " She continued and I decided to listen to her.
The both of us came back to our seats I put on the sunglasses I got from Tom and enjoyed the ice cream while we were on the beach
We decided to take a break for a while since the two of us are burned out from studying, tomorrow is the exam that every student awaits.
There was a bunch of people spending their time today on the beach and after I finished my ice cream I laid back into my seat and closed my eyes. After a few minutes, I heard Kate let out a gasp
" wait... Who's that? " I heard her ask.
I sat up and removed my sunglasses as we watched a tall guy rise from the beach, holding his surfboard in his arms. The girls around him squealed. I furrowed my eyebrow and squinted my eyes to get a better look
" That's Derek! The guy from our school " I replied as I turned to Kate
" you know him? " she asks.
I looked away when I felt my cheeks turn red after I met Derek in the library we became good friends, I found out that his the same age as Kate and his dad is from Brazil
I won't lie, Derek is a good-looking guy, smart, and a gentleman. But I only see him as a friend and nothing else. I never want to hurt Tom's feelings at all, I'm very lucky to have him and I wouldn't gonna waste it
" yeah... I met him feel days ago, he a nice guy " I said and put my sunglasses on
Kate opened his mouth to speak but she was cut off when her phone began to ring. I watch her expression turn into excitement
" it's Gustav! " she said
I rolled my eyes at her while chuckling. I decided to excuse myself and headed to the nearest open restaurant here on the beach.
Some of the boys turned their heads and watched me walk, I ignored the eyes on me and headed straight to the counter where the employee smiled at me. I decided to order a slice of pizza for me and Kate, I paid for the order and waited for a couple of minutes
" Addie! Hey "
I turned to see Derek walking up to me while drying his hair with the towel on his neck, my entire face went red when I saw his body. I looked away and met his eyes, we smiled at each other
" I didn't know you here- Wow, you look amazing " He breathed out when seeing the swimsuit I'm currently wearing
" t-thank you. I saw you earlier in the ocean, I didn't know you knew how to surfboard " I begin, Derek sits beside me on the barstool and turns to me
"Oh, that? My dad taught me when I was young. So, you alone here? " He asks, I shake my head and point out to Kate who's lying down in her seat, clearly giggling on her phone
" I'm with my best friend, we are currently taking a break after a long week of studying for an exam " I explained and Derek chuckles
" one of my friends is throwing a party tomorrow night, do you want to go with me? " He offers. I bite my lip and think about it
It's been a while since I've been to parties and I guess it's also a treat for myself after finishing the exam.
"Sure! Can I bring my best friend with me? I'm sure she'll enjoy the party more than me " I asked, Derek laughed and agreed.
When my order was finally given to me, the both of us walked together on the beach until I got back to Kate
They both introduce themselves to each other before Derek says goodbye, I wave my hands at him and let out a sigh.
Giving Kate the pizza and told her about the party tomorrow which she completely said yes
After a while. I took out my phone and decided to message Enzo again, it's been a few weeks since I last heard about him. The call we had when I was at the concert was the last time I shared a conversation with him
He lives in Russia and my dad knows him. Me and Enzo only call twice a month because we both know how it's too risky. My dad is the only person I've feared the most, his dangerous and ruthless.
Probably right now he thinks I'm dead, and stopped searching for me.
But I'm not completely sure
I took a deep breath and decided to shut my ey es again, slowly drifting to sleep
