It Won't Help

Mikasa POV

I couldn't help but stand there in shock. Seeing my husband with another woman made me question everything about him. Did he ever love me? Was everything just some lie? I looked down at my wrist where my golden Rolex watch was. I looked at the ticking clock, and I stared at it for several minutes consumed in my own thoughts.

Do I go home?

Do I contact someone?

Perhaps I was just seeing things. I must've been. I convinced myself that what I saw was just some man who looked like my husband. Perhaps when I get home everything will be just fine. It will be I'm sure.

I continued my walk home and when I arrived at the lobby, some part of me told me to turn around. I couldn't. I wouldn't. As I pressed the elevator button the tension built up. I blanked out and before I knew it I was unlocking the front door to our apartment. When I pushed the door forward everything was pitch black. I walked upstairs and saw Jean lying down on our bed.

That night I got changed and told myself, everything will be fine.

By the time I woke up Jean was gone. I couldn't be bothered contacting him. I couldn't bother with anything. I grabbed my phone and called my boss, telling her that I was too sick to come in. I looked in the mirror and saw the bags underneath my eyes. I barely got any sleep after last night. I need to find out, I need to find out the truth about what's going on.

Just when I was preparing to leave the apartment, the phone rang. I picked up the phone and weakly said, 'Hello?'

On the other end I sigh was let out, 'My friend, you sound like shit.' I wanted to laugh, I really did, but the words which left Annie's mouth just made me burst out crying. 'I didn't mean it! I'm sorry, it was just a joke.'

I snuffled and said 'That's not why I'm crying. I'm crying because – because – ' I couldn't even finish my sentence.

'That's it; I'm coming over, just wait for me okay?' I mumble I quiet yes to her then she hangs up. No matter what she says though, I know it won't even help.
