After denying the option to spend Christmass with Garcia. Emily began her journey to Virginia. Garcia had cornered her in the bathroom, Emily had lied by saying her mother had invited her over. Which of course never happens, Emily hadn't seen her mother, since the case she brought years ago. But she promised to spend New Year with her.

Emily was sitting on the couch when Declan looked at her. She could tell he was nervous.

"Mom?"

"Yeah baby?"

"Can you help me with french?"

When Emily didn't say anything, he continues,

"I was working and I asked Dad, and he said it would be better to ask you"

"Of course, you can ask me anything" She said hugging him, "Go get your homework, I'll help you"

.

On the 31st, she went out to go home before Garcia showed up. She had worn a nice top and jeans, Garcia of course had shown up sparkling, with a bottle of wine. JJ was out with Will, and Henry, so it was just the 2 of them.

"You know I have never been to your house and it's been more than 2 years"

"I don't usually have people over"

"It's a bit bland"

Well even Emily had to agree, most of her more lively stuff was at Tom's. This house was more of a hotel, she sometimes lived in.

"Stop, It's party time" Garcia says, popping the wine open. Emily accepted the glass with a big smile.

The next morning she woke up with a strong headache and dark circles. After ushering Garcia out, she went back to bed.

.

For Declan's Birthday, she bought him a phone. It just made calls, but that was enough for him. He had taken to calling her every morning, before he left for school. She had thought of enrolling him in a boarding school, but she didn't want the life she had for him. They lived close enough that Lousie could walk him to school every day.

.

This morning when her phone rang, she was expecting it to be Declan, but was stumped when it was a private caller. It could be her mother, but that was as unlikely as winning the lottery.

She picked up the phone cautiously.

"Hey E" Comes a quiet voice from the other side of the call.

"John?"

"The only and only"

"Are you okay?"

"Fine, can we meet?"

"Sure"

The line goes dead.

.

Emily was on edge the whole day. John had given her a place and time for tonight. She hadn't talked to John since the party. The party where she got pregnant, by him. She had seen him, In events and such, due to their parents, but never talked to him.

For him to call her, was weird.

She left work early, she was the first out, something that had never happened before.

When she walked into the bar, he was sitting there.

She put a hand on his back, it felt so odd. She hadn't touched him since that night, 23 years ago. When he hugged, she wanted out, her body was screaming at her. She knew she was drunk that night, and he wasn't. But she shouldn't have been drunk.
