MAISIE DELPHINIUM PRESENTSA DEBUT ART PIECE
IN COLLABORATION WITH THE STAFF OF THE PALACE
The main structure in Maisie's art piece is a wooden replica of a tree, made and painted to resemble a leafless maple tree. This was constructed using scrap pieces of wood she begged the maids to procure for her, and was assembled with the help of at least three guards. She had actually quite enjoyed this little project with the place staff, finding that there were many people she enjoyed spending time with in this palace who she had never encountered before. Painting the tree structure was a lot easier, and involved lots of brown paint, plenty of paint brushes, and more changes of clothes than Maisie could count. It was a messy process, that was for certain. Eventually, she ended up with what she'd designed, and adorned the bottom of it with real moss from the palace gardens and an assortment of flowers.
To go alongside this structure, she cut out many leaf shapes out of paper, of all different sorts. Oak, maple, birch. All types of leaves in brilliant shades of reds, oranges and yellows. Each one had a string threaded near the base, looped so it was able to be hung upon the bare branches. She put these leaves in a box besides the tree with a pen and a sign:write upon a leaf the thing that most reminds you of home, and hang it on the tree, and let it be a reminder to those who miss their own home that they are not alone.
This is what the tree will look like when it is finished.
The idea behind this art piece is that Maisie misses her home dearly, and she is certain that she is not the only one who feels this way. The selected have just left their homes for a new opportunity. The staff have left their homes to help with the increased demand due to the selection. And even the royals must have things they love about their palace. The tree is open to all, selected, staff and nobles alike.
The flowers among the base were selected by Maisie due to their specific meanings:
