After the funeral, Raven was so heartbroken, knowing she had no family left. Seeing everybody come up hugging her, showing this fake love like they've always cared. Looking into the mirror at herself. It was so heavy being here.
Raven walks out of her family bathroom seeing her cousin Steven right there. Her and Steven grew up in Gray Indiana since they were 5. Steve was 3 years older than Raven, so when he moved, she never saw him again, but they always stayed in touch
She walks out, crying all over again, hugging Steven
"It's okay, cousin," He said, squeezing her.
They walked back down stairs seeing everybody look at Raven..
"I'm gone always be here if you need me," Her cousin Pam said. "Call me any time you hear me? " She said
Raven shook her head, yes. "Can we just go outside? Every time I'm in here, all I get is flashbacks, " She said to Steven.
They walked outside. Raven takes a big breath.
"Move down to Minnesota with me," he asked
"I can't just up and move,"
"You can. You just won't, " he said, touching her shoulder.. "As my favorite cousin/sister, I want you near me. Fuck home. That's why I left to get away from all these fake ass family members. You'll be close to me. Just think about it" he said
Raven did. He was right. All they gone want is money from her when she gets paid from her family life insurance. "You're right" she said
"I leave in two days. " he said
"Would if I'm not ready? " She said
Steven grabs her hand. "You ready for anything. As long as I'm right there. We gone be straight. I'll never have you hurting or worried about a damn thing. " he said hugging her again.
"I don't think I can have anything ready and packed in two days"

Steven mom Ursula walked over to him " So you came back for her but not to see your mother? " Ursula asked
"A mother who use to beat me every chance she got, cause she couldn't stay off them drugs? " Steven said
Ursula slaps him "Dont talk to me like that"
"This is not to time or place for this" Raven said
"How dare you speak to me like that? " She asked ignoring Raven
"Can you just go, ? " Raven said to Ursula
"Both of you should not even have came" Ursula said
"WHAT? " Raven said "THIS IS MY MOTHER HOUSE. Don't EVER SPEAK LIKE THAT TO ME. WHEN YOU HAVENT SHOWED UP AT ALL TO EVEN CHECK TO SEE IF SHES GOOD, CAUSE IF YOU DID YOU WOULD HAVE KNOWN HER HUSBAND BEEN BEATING NOT ONLY HER BUT ALL OF US" Raven said walking away with tears in her eyes
Ursula looks at Steven seeing him shake his head.
"You wrong" Steven said leaving her to stand right there.
"Steven" Ursula said
"No Ursula. You know I'm happy to not be around this fake ass family" he said waking away.
Raven walks back in the house hearing her uncle talk about the life insurance and how much I was suppose to get back. Raven walks in the living room.
"Y'all can get out too," Raven said
"Raven baby girl" her grandmother said
"No grandma. EVERYBODY CAN GET THE FUCK OUT. NOBODY CARE ABOUT IF THEY DEAD OR NOT. Y'all ONLY WORRY ABOUT WHO GETS WHAT. HALF OF YALL HERE NEVER SHOWED YALL FACES SINCE I WAS LITTLE" Raven yells.
"Raven" her grandmother said again
"NO! GET OUT? " Raven said walking away.
Steven walks back in seeing Raven storm off and everybody watch her.
"Well y'all heard her" Steven said
Raven was in her room packing up every thing she needs to move far away from here. Steven walks in seeing her in tears.
"Can we go to the store so. I can change out all these locks. I'll sale this house within a heart beat" Raven said.
"You sure you want to do that? You grew to here"
"And I have no family any more. " Raven said whipping her tears off.
"You got me, cuz."
"Yeah, the only person I have left on this planet, "
Later that day, Steven stopped by his mother house for the last time. He never hated his mother, but she was just never thsat mother who loved others like he did.
Steven gets out of the car, and seeing the outside of the house still looks the same. modern, fenced-in yard with a small swing that sits just in the front. he opens the fences, wallking up to the porch he takes a deep breath before knocking.
before his fist could hit the door, it swung open. stand face to face was the men he couldn't stand since his daddy walked out his life.
"Little Steve," He said, standing in the dor way like he didn't want to let him in. Aint seen you in a while,"
"Good, it's gone. Stay that way," Steven said, walking past him into the house.
"Steven, after what you did today, you want to come show your face?" His mother said, stting o the couch folding clothes.
"You deserved it. and before you say anything. did you know he was cheating on her?" Steven asked, standing with his hands in his pockets.
"That's not my place to say," she said, standing up and going into the kitchen.
"Ma. Be real for once in your life. You walk around like this shit is just a normal day. no emotion for your own sister...
"Listen, boy. You dont know what me and my sister and I went through. You right. Maybe i didn't show enough emotions. But, it's dont. Nothing can be taken back now, can it?" she asked
"And you see why nobody likes coming around or being with you besides that bum ass nigga you call a real men," Steven said seeing his mother boyfriend come into the kitchen.
"What was said?" He asked
"You heard me, nobody aint repeatin' themselves. specially not to a nigga like you,"Steven said seeing him come up to him.
His mother steps in between them, "Not today," She said.
