A few hours of rest later and al was up and ready to move.
Peering through the cave’s opening, al tried to see if he could spot any hunters. After a few checks, he finally stepped out of the cave.

The sun had just begun to rise and it was still a bit dark outside but his wolf traits made sure that he could see as clear as day. Climbing down from the cliff, al contemplated on which direction to go.

Pulling up his interface, he went to the search icon and began searching for maps detailing the area he currently was. After close to an hour of searching, he came up with 3 maps showing the regions villages, towns, cities and the capital.

It also showed other vital areas such as a valley, a ravine and others.
Closing the interface, he willed the maps into his inventory.

He was quite surprised when he clicked the purchase button and the maps appeared in his hands, but at the cost of 10,000 in real money.

Based on the information showed on the maps, the nearest settlement aside from raven fall was just a few miles north of his current region. Rolling up the maps, al willed them into his inventory and began a long walk north.

- Wolfenvale Palace
“Lady Arielle!!! We must hurry and evacuate the palace. You must not attempt to reason with the hunters.

“Who said anything about reasoning? I simply plan to teach them some manners. Apparently they lack in that area.”

“I forbid you from doing such. You are not capable of going against such a number of them.”

“I agree with lord Randal lady Arielle. The hunters are a ruthless bunch”

“I don’t care how ruthless they are, they must pay for what they have done.”

Turning away, Arielle summoned her bow and was about to blink away when she felt her body go limp.

Randal has cast paralyzing touch

“Give her a dose of glystrene. I’m sorry but I promised your father that I would keep you alive.”

- Alaric
Jumping over a boulder, Alaric took out a map from his inventory and laid it down on the boulder he just crossed over. He tried to determine his general location from the few landmarks depicted on the map.

“Goddamn these maps. It’s like they are almost centuries old. The whole topography has changed.”

There was a canyon and a waterfall which he presumed to be on his left due to the increase in land slope and the sound of dripping water that echoed through the forest.

On the right about two hundred meters south were a group of stone houses obviously representing a settlement. That was where he needed to go but first he had other needs to attend to.

It had been days since Alaric had a bath and he was beginning to stink badly. Taking a detour northwest, al took time to decide his next move.

Getting to a settlement was a good idea because he needed supplies and information, both of which he couldn’t get in a forest.

                             * * *

The canyon was quite large, running down slope about a thousand meters in length and about half a thousand in depth. The water was coming from an underground source to burst out from the western wall of the canyon and fall freely to its floor.

Al suspected that the water closest to the point of origin would be much warmer since it was coming from a deep land source, but the real issue was how he was going to get down the canyon.

The walls of the canyon were quite smooth as if someone had gone to great lengths to smoothen it out.

The option of climbing down was canceled leaving him with only one other option ‘freefall’.

The only problem with free falling was not being able to discern the depth of the canyon’s floor.

Abandoning that idea, al turned back on path towards the settlement in hopes that a settlement that large would most likely have a channeled water source close by.

He was both right and wrong.

The settlement was by far larger than what he thought. It spanned over a hundred miles south in front of which lay about 50 hectares of farmland ripe with all kinds of food produce.

Al was a few kilometers out of the cover of the forest when he spotted a dozen riders on horseback riding towards the city gates.

The riders rode past the que already formed at the city gates and came to a stop in front of the check in officers. Someone from the back of their rank rode towards the front; probably the commanding officer of the group.

The commander of the riders and the head gate official, were engaged in a chat and after a few minutes before they were allowed unrestricted access into the city.

Now that the fuss had died down, al stood up from where he was crouched and began a slow advance towards the gate. Once at the gate, al got on the que and waited for his turn.

While waiting for his turn, al inspected the men that stood guard.
They were fitted with chainmail amour with a few touches of leather at the joints for easy maneuverability and movement.

The amour was painted full red with touches of black for the finger greaves.
The bearers of the amour were quite intriguing. Three were wolfkin by what he could tell, 1 human and 2 of a race he didn’t know of.

By the time it got to his urn, al had run out of things to observe and just turned his focus forward.

Not quite all the people on the queue were allowed access into the city; some were sent another way towards waiting carts most likely to transport them to another city.

“Next”
“What business do you have in geur” The gate guard asked.
“Am taking shelter from the wolfkin hunters”
“A new player are ya” the guard asked observing al with a sharp eye.
“Yes sir” al replied with a bit of caution
"Dan let Vida show him in"
“Ok boss” Dan replied gesturing al over
“Vi”
“Sir”
“Come over here, harry wants you to show this rookie in”
“Why me, can’t you show him in” Vida replied pouting
“Do I have to remind you why you shouldn’t question Harry’s orders?”
“No sir”
“And don’t pout when speaking to me next time.”
“What you looking at rookie, follow the damn woman.”

Al hadn’t even realized that mer had started moving until Dan screamed at him. Quickening his pace, he soon cut up with Vida.
