Zero (ゼロ, Zero) is the deuteragonist of the Mega Man X series. He is a high-ranking Maverick Hunter, a dedicated warrior who fights Mavericks alongside X and Axl. Though he is secretly the greatest creation of Doctor Albert W. Wily, making him effectively the successor of Bass, Zero chooses to fight for what he believes in rather than letting the circumstances of his creation determine his destiny.

Z-Saber

The Z-Saber was expanded on in Mega Man X4, as Zero wields the Z-Saber entirely without his Z-Buster. He can use it on the ground, in the air, or on a wall, though attacking on the ground forces him to stand still. His default combo in Mega Man X4 to X5 is a downward slash-to-outward slash done via his following arm then a forward-leaning downward two-handed chop that does three hits (while in Mega Man Xtreme and Mega Man Xtreme 2  he inflicts a one-handed inward slash slightly upward instead). The crouching attack is an inward sweeping slash while the midair slash is an outward swing angled a bit downward (which changes its animation slightly when done as he lands). This in X6 changes to an inward cut, downward-outward cut then a two-handed launching-lift slash to the background (which inflicts 3 hits; both the first and third inputs are akin to his Xtreme games' neutral combo finisher); the crouching slash changes into an outward sweeping-slash, and the midair slash is a midair version of his original downward 3-hit slash (which resembles an altered version of it when performed as he lands). Zero performs most of his techniques with the Z-Saber, his most recurring techniques being a rising slash, a downward stab, a dashing thrust or slash, and a rolling slash.

Similar to the Special Weapons, Zero can use the Z-Saber to execute techniques that he learned and adapted from enemy Mavericks. The techniques obtained from defeated bosses usually are assigned to different elements, such as fire, ice, and lightning, and those attacks are executed by fulfilling certain button combinations while being in a certain situation (for example, being in mid-air).

K-Knuckle

The K Knuckle has the shortest range of all Zero's weapons, barely extending beyond his fists. Their basic combo is also only two hits, meaning they cannot break guards normally. However, they possess the same enhanced attack power as the T Breaker, and equipping them augments many of Zero's special techniques into attacks referencing moves from fighting games. These attacks have smaller range than their default counterparts, but deal more damage and sometimes have different hitboxes.

T Breaker (Titan Breaker)

The T Breaker attacks noticeably slower than other weapons and does not possess a three-hit combo, instead relying on a single swing. However, each swing of the hammer is much more powerful than a Z-Saber slash. The hammer's reach is the same as the Z-Saber.

Using Juuhazan with the T Breaker equipped results in Dairettsui, a fast and powerful slam that can break the defenses of guarding enemies and destroy certain obstacles and platforms.
