Aemma and Renesmee were immersed in the scrawled writing, their small fingers brushing over the rough parchment pages of the old texts.

Renesmee sat at a large oak table, delving into information on the Targaryen Dynasty, particularly Maegor the Cruel, son of Queen Visenya Targaryen and Aegon the Conqueror. Overhearing a guard speak of rumors regarding secret passageways in the castle, they became determined to uncover the truth.

Surrounded by towering wooden shelves filled with countless books, Aemma lay on her stomach, using her hands to prop up her head as she skimmed through a book.

"I had you looking in the wrong section; how could I be so stupid?" Renesmee said, dropping a book loudly next to Aemma, who jumped back.

"The Red Keep is riddled with secret tunnels and hidden passages. Maegor the Cruel wanted to make sure he had an escape route out of the Red Keep in case his enemies ever trapped him inside. During construction, Maegor made sure the builders included a number of such points of entrance and egress; then, he had all the workers killed so only the Targaryens knew of them. Some of the passages are built into the walls, while others are tunnels that are held up by timber support beams. Many of these passageways lead to different parts of the castle, whereas others lead outside; at least one leads to a network of tunnels under the city from which one can reach the Blackwater Rush via a sewer pipe." Renesmee read out loud.

"Wow," Aemma said after Renesmee finished reading. "Cool, right?" she asked the girl beside her. "No, I'm just surprised you could read all that, considering you barely know how." Aemma joked with a smile on her face.

Renesmee slapped the back of her head, rolling her eyes. "Ow, Nessie," Aemma said, rubbing the back of her head.

"We have to find it," Renesmee said, getting back to their plan. "They're all over the castle; we're never gonna find them," Aemma said with furrowed eyebrows.

"We have time," Renesmee said, standing on her feet and grabbing the girl's arm, pulling her up.

Renesmee picks up the book and drags Aemma along with her out of the library as they begin to explore the halls in search of the secret passageways.

"Is it too late to say I don't want to do this anymore?" Aemma asked her. "Yes, yes it is." Renesmee replied with a smirk and continued to roam the halls in search of the secret passageways.

Aemma sighed in boredom as she dragged her hand across the wall as they walked like Renesmee practically demanded her to do. "Do you think we'd be able to sneak into the kitchen with the passageways?" Aemma asked, Renesmee didn't answer her as she stared at the page in frustration trying to find the passageways.

"Nessie?—" Aemma was quickly cut off

"Give me a sec." Renesmee said holding up her finger

Aemma sighs in annoyance knowing how impatient she herself was. Aemma rolls her eyes and continues to trail her hand along the walls boredly.

"If you were Maegor where would put your secret passage way in so you could get away from attack?" Renesmee asked her.

"Um... I don't know the Great Hall—" Aemma is cut off by Renesmee grabbing her arm, dragging her away.

"I'm so confused." Aemma muttered as she was being dragged.

"Focus." Renesmee exclaimed as they journeyed to the throne room.

As Renesmee and Aemma entered the throne room, Renesmee scanned the area with an intense focus. Aemma, on the other hand, couldn't help but be captivated by the grandeur of the room.
